Haha was that supposed to be a diss towards data scientists?

Fantastic talk. Thanks for sharing. I like the insight about finding more ways to look at data, not creating more (and different) ways to simply display it.

Interesting talk! A lot of the ideas he talks about have been around for a while, for example the ranking of visual encodings, which is discussed e.g. in Wilkinson's book "Grammar of Graphics" (http://www.springer.com/gp/book/9780387245447).

This a good presentation. Re: the comments above: the scientific source for this presentation doesn't originate with Wilkinson, but with John W. Tukey, Tufte (as mentioned in the presentation), and perhaps most directly with William Cleveland (read his brilliant 1984 paper "Graphical Perception: Theory, Experimentation, and Application to the Development of Graphical Methods" - http://info.slis.indiana.edu/~katy/S637-S11/cleveland84.pdf)

indeed Wilkinson's talk about these ideas in detail, I saw this and I was like he is reading from Wilkinson's book

Uh Oh! Did this fuck just say... "tools to enable our government to do a better job." Do a better job of poisoning our children's children with the hate the world has for this cursed land now, and for as long as the cowardly pigs that have to lie and steal, live.  And you call them what? "Leaders?" "Presidents?" Fuck you! Not this kid. It is quite simple this communication thing. You can paint the shit any a myriad of way's; but I believe it is the content that is the problem. Speaking further I would say it is a very certain cowardice the average american has, very reminiscent of the oligarch swine you follow. If you people(Namely the white fascist) wish to end this world; and it is truly coming to an end... "in a state of hate and murder, greed and deceit," I'll surely go to my grave fighting you. REVOLUTION! Follow no one; let the millions that love lead the way... together. You are no artist, if create nothing of beauty.
