Originally created for the 168 Film Festival, ReMoved follows the emotional story through the eyes of a young girl taken from her home and placed into foster care.
After winning Best Film and Audience Choice at the 168 Film Festival, as well as winning Best Film at the Enfoque Film Festival and being an official selection at the Santa Barbara Independent Film Festival, we're extremely excited to share ReMoved online.
"It would be impossible to fully understand the life and emotions of a child going through the foster care system, but this short narrative film portrays that saga in a poetic light, with brushes of fear, anger, sadness, and a tiny bit of hope." -Santa Barbara Independent
This short film wouldn't be possible without the help of some of my incredible friends.
First, my wife, who schemed this project up with me, and was willing to do me the huge favor of writing and producing it. Without her partnership, this would not have happened, and definitely would not have been such a fun process. We were inspired to create this film while in foster parent training.
And then of course Tony Cruz. I asked him early on if he'd be willing to tackle this with me. I wasn't sure if I was really going to pursue it unless he said yes. He graciously agreed and was, to me, a huge source of confidence in knowing this project would turn out well. He and i discussed everything during the pre-production, and i counted on his creative mind to keep me on the right path. He even persuaded another key creative on the project, Greg Pickard, to join us. On Set Tony was my right hand man. On set, if I just wasn't feeling it, I had the trust in him to be able to just hand the scene off to him and know he would make it work. And he stepped in plenty of times when i just needed a break, or a separate perspective. Some of the best moments in the film are of his doing. Go check him out at tonycruz.co
We were very fortunate with Abby White, the young actress. Without her we wouldn't have a film.
Her parents were so amazing as well. I don't think they anticipated how much involvement it would take on their end, but they stuck with it the whole way. Abby's dad, Andy White from Good Times Guitar, even recorded Abby's Voice Over for us in his studio.
We also owe a huge thanks to our cast: Sabrina Culver, the birth mom, who brought so much to her role http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0191747/ and also Jordan Nice, who gave a phenomenal performance as the abusive boyfriend: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2059038/ . Last but certainly not least, Kyra Locke, who played the committed caring foster mom, who truly brought such an amazing contribution to the story: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2753903/
We can vouch for each of them. They are worth working with!
I have a teenage daughter who is loved greatly by the whole family. She is rebellious, aggressive, swears and shouts constantly and particularly is cruel to her Mom. She quit school, quit trade college then got an apprenticeship which she quit without notice. She has gone down the drugs and trouble path.
We love her always but not all 'darlings' are hard done by!!
Two sides to all coins.
This short film was, without a doubt, the finest presentation I've ever seen. Everything was top notch professional, including the young girl's acting. She is Oscar worthy. It's also incredibly heartbreaking to see abuse at it's worst....and how the innocent are affected. I never suffered through any of those things personally, but went through years of acute anxiety, depression and panic attacks. Some of you can relate. For anyone reading this comment, I have just a few things to say about you. Take a moment to read them: You ARE worthy....You ARE important....You ARE needed......You ARE special....You ARE a masterpiece of God's creation....You ARE someone for whom Christ gave his life.....You CAN find healing.....You CAN start over. I did. I am healed. Reach out.
This movie is so heartbroken anyone who has brothers are sisters take care of them because you don't know when your last day of seeing them will be over this movie taught me a lesson never hurt them shout at them one day you will never see them again I would rather perish the moment I had with them before you regret you didn't i will be loving always because everyone's life is important to all who thinks about there family and not toys are anything which is not one of our need should read this all if you don't like it just saying everyone's life is more important than what you want 😶😢😇
I like the little actress, I absolutely loved this film. I know this girl's live has been rough. But why, why does she have to be such an asshole to a woman that is trying to help her, that is nice to her. I guess it's because she's still young and immature. But goddamn she's a brat. I don't know, I wanted to slap her. It just ruined the mood for me.
PS. Well girl. You're not lovable when you screech at a person. It's the opposite. God bless this poor woman's patience
YOU know I always try not to tell anyone this but now I am going to I'm a 10 year old girl who has been through physical and mental abuse and every day from the age of 6 to 8 I had to go to school knowing that my baby brothers life was practicly on the line and I has to go to school knowing that my mom might not make it through the 8 hours of the day because of the physical abuse she was going through from her current boyfriend and if you do not know what the. Most horrific said is it's is the shatter of glass and you having to hear the scream of your mother and having to lie to your sibling and say everything will be alright when you honestly don't even know if she will live through it all it is hard. : life tip don't you ever think about bullying someone unless you know their story
I believe this is a true story and if it's not this scenario happens billions of times in the world over and over and over again. That is precisely why I had 3 abortions instead of making my kids go through this extreme sorrow.
I cryed so hard...
This can pass through langage... cause I’m French, and not bilingual.
But every sentence touch my hurt, touch my mind
Thank you for this, it’s beautiful, juste like the little actress ♥️
There will always be that someone out there who is waiting to care of you because YOU are special and each and everyone was meant to be! YOU were born on purpose, for a specific purpose that only you can fulfil. Never forget that! ♥
This is why God has forbidden drinking alcohol in Islam ( which is mean in Arabic peace) because of its harm to the people themselves and for those who live with them including kids, And what it causes like car accidents, etc.
truth pure One of the biggest problems for non-Muslims is that They do not differentiate between religion and culture . The Islamic religion does not call for killing because it is called peace. This is a social problem only for some societies.
and here a verse from Quran:
Because of this did We ordain unto the children of Israel that if anyone slays a human being-unless it be [in punishment] for murder or for spreading corruption on earth-it shall be as though he had slain all mankind; whereas, if anyone saves a life, it shall be as though he had saved the lives of all mankind. And, indeed, there came unto them Our apostles with all evidence of the truth: yet, behold, notwithstanding all this, many of them go on committing all manner of excesses on earth.
yeah yeah you islamic families are perfect!!
zero drugs also yes? : P
just sometimes some honor killing but we never see movie about that because person who will make movie will killed by your muslims....like jews- two groups of perfect PR outside but shitty inside.
