I have a .dmp file that was taken from another oracle database system. Where should I place the file for the Import Wizard to pick it up??

I tried using CMD > imp ..but through this method I got 'not a valid export file, header failed verification' and such.

i have 2 databases db1 and db2.I export tables from db1 and import to db2 with datapump.but nothing happening.i gave grand access to all db using system..I can export db1 tables and import to same db1 with your datapump method but its's not importing sequences ,only importing tables and triggers....please help..
