How easy is it to get a healthy HCLF vegan meal in a restaurant? Here's how we did it the other day -- breakfast, lunch & dinner. :) Cipher - Electronic Light by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1100844 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ ❤ ☀ °‧°‧☆ ☾ O U R S T O R E ☽ ☆‧°‧°☀ ❤ The Store: http://store.vegsource.com ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞ F O L L O W ۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Instagram: 'vegsource' or http://www.instagram.com/vegsource Personal Questions: http://vegsource.tumblr.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/vegsource Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/vegsource ◂ ◃ ☀ °‧°‧☆ W E B S I T E ☆‧°‧°☀ ▹ ► ▻ http://www.vegsource.com

Great video. Thanks for sharing. We are vacationing in Southern California visiting from Adelaide,South Australia later this year. Can you please tell me the location of the Freshii you both went to as the area looks really nice. Thanks for your videos, they have helped me a lot. I’ve only been vegan for 5 weeks, so still a lot to learn.
Phil Snelman (5 months ago)
Thanks Mr Nelson for some great suggestions.
missiris1234 (6 months ago)
What town is this? Nice choices here!
VegSource (6 months ago)
Northridge CA near Los Angeles.
Joseph Malham (10 months ago)
Woah, I know exactly where all these places are. Northridge for life!
William (1 year ago)
I live in the IE, those places haven’t reached out here yet. We’re just now getting a Whole Foods
Eveline Hodges (1 year ago)
You guys in California are so lucky! No such choices in Switzerland...
SJ R (1 year ago)
21.40 for a day of eating out, not including tips, is too rich for most. That money would be six days of groceries for me. I haven't eaten the fast food outlets for years with one exception, Wendy's has a good baked potato and cheap
Edith Pruitt (1 year ago)
I wish in SC had these places!
Michael Wilson (1 year ago)
I like your spirit and so on, but this is a pointless video for those of us starving in anywhere else California, as if there are lots of vegan options, no offence but who cares what you eat... A much more interesting bit of INFO is what to eat where there is less choice like the rest of the nation, or perhaps not so urban Canada.
Sherry O (1 year ago)
There's a freshii in our Target in Brea CA =)
Marty Schumacher (1 year ago)
Wonderful restaurant tour. Made me hungry and also gave me great meal ideas.

I really need to move to California
I want a Potato Factory in Philadelphia...delicious.
Cher Styles (1 year ago)
Well that was very disappointing. You're a beautiful couple. But I was kind a hoping on a more realistic level of a video. I was surprised that you went all vegetarian health food places to eat. That's easy anybody could do that. What about when you're out for drinks and you're at a steakhouse or seafood house. And you're the only one that's a vegetarian or A vegan. And you're struggling trying to figure out what you're going to order off the menu. And you have to try and figure out what they're cooking it in what temperature to cook that what butter they're using etc. the list goes on anon we all know it. So perhaps you could make some suggestions for other types of restaurants thank you

I'm going to Tampa, FL and am not looking forward to eating in restaurants for a week.  How would you eat in unfamiliar locations?

Thanks, mates!
VegSource (2 years ago)
Baked potatoes and steamed veggies from Outback Steakhouse, baked potatoes from Wendy's, rice and veggie plate at Flame Broiler, oatmeal from a Starbucks, use Happy Cow app to locate vegan restaurants, rent a place from Airbnb that has a kitchen and make many of your own meals.
Tara Lynn (2 years ago)
I love all your videos and info you post. I have committed to being a vegan this year and appreciate all the helpful insights!
Tessa Squire (2 years ago)
Hmm. Now try and do that in UK. It's cold and these places don't exist. Ordering off menu does happen either
VeganBrains (2 years ago)
I live in central Nebraska, so I had to LOL a little at your restaurant pics. Still, I love your channel and you do a lot of good. Thank you!
Terri Chalnick (2 years ago)
Hi Jeff, love your videos. we live in North Carolina. My family and I are the odd and very strange people here because we are vegan. Our friends in church make fun of us in a loving way. They think we are very weird. The only place we eat is at Whole Foods and we are so grateful there is one close to us. i enjoyed watching where you ate but unfortunately those places do not exist here.
Sarbear (2 years ago)
Omg he looks adorable in the sweater
Sarah Austin (2 years ago)
Ohh I wish we had that potato place around these parts!
Nancyy Min (2 years ago)
i need these restaurants in my country :((
Michelle Bristol (2 years ago)
Love this video. Thanks to you and Sabrina for giving us the tour of your neighbourhood. Sorry to hear about your father. I sure do love his sweater though! We have none of these chains in the U.K. But they all look great, you guys are lucky. We do have potato places but they are just cheap lunch places with junky toppings full of mayonnaise. Would be amazing to have one so healthy here. Baked potatoes are one of my favourites with guacamole (sorry!) or some of my home made herby nut cheese. Delicious!
JustA Person (2 years ago)

Abbie Robinson (2 years ago)
I think the conversation about how veganism is (at present) very classist needs to be had. if we want everyone to be vegan (at least where it makes sense it developed and reasonably developed nations) then we need to start from the bottom up. I would appreciate seeing an abundance of videos discussing the ways in which veganism can be accessible and practical for poor families, culturally diverse families, and single-parent families. take into consideration that there are a massive number of people in this country that work multiple jobs to raise their many children. if the root of veganism is compassion, we need to work to empathize with our fellow neighbors first. how can we teach people who have a variety of important and unique barriers to adopt a vegan diet? the evolution to a vegan diet can not simply be achieved through personal conviction. And that is just a fact.
Renee Colgate (2 years ago)
Is your wife an HCLF vegan? If so, why did she have on a coat covering up her body and you didn't have a coat on? We would love to see and hear her weight perspective especially after having children.
Wednesday (2 years ago)
I love oatmeal. I eat it for lunch too.

any oil free bagel brands
Craig Neely (2 years ago)
It's very frustrating to see the Nelsons eat flour tortillas and not say a thing about it. These tortillas are made with lard. Mostly all burrito places put oil in rice and beans. It's also frustrating to see the eat at small boutiquey places that only exist in suburban LA. Just not realistic for anyone. The best (only) place to really get a WFPB meal is a Chinese restaurant. There you can get steamed brown rice and steamed vegetables.
Craig Neely (2 years ago)
Then why not tell us no lard? You can't assume readers/watchers assume so. I live in Atlanta and there are NO places that serve fat free/whole wheat flour tortillas or oil-free beans and rice. To your accusation of lying (really?), I was pointing out that for most people in the US there are no places to eat out WFPB other than a Chinese restaurant that serves steamed rice and veggies. Obviously, in your case, it's not the only/best place. BTW, I'm on your side. I'm no paleo troll. Just trying to get the most specific information for me and my family trying to follow this WOE in an essentially impossible environment. Thanks for your work.
VegSource (2 years ago)
No lard in those tortillas. Why would you make something like that up? And the only place you can get a WFPB meal is in a Chinese restaurant? Why lie, my man?
Samira Sussna (2 years ago)
Man, these places look great!!! I'm originally from West L.A. [ Mar VISTA ], but live in Sacramento now....... I miss my home......

Do you ever have like cheat days or meals where you eat food that has fat or not necessarily healthy?
Aly Van Heukelom (3 years ago)
Great video! Would love to see more like this!
L. L. (3 years ago)
Of course you live in California where there are thousands of vegan restaurants and everyone is so concerned about their diet. I live in Guam, where everyone is obese and there are no good restaurants besides Dennis/IHOP (really!) I envy everyone living in the West Coast. Live long and prosper! BTW, does coconut milk contain oil? Do you forbid from eating it? I like to put it in my curry. Thanks!

The problem is that most people don't live in a "vegan friendly" area. That's where I come in!
onceuponanexploration (3 years ago)
Tutti fruiti has vegan options? I'm going tomm.
Willie McGee (3 years ago)
Good pr for you vegans, everything looked delicious. Maybe a little pricey for this Texas meat-eater, but I'm cheap. You have a nice way about you, enjoy your videos and have now subscribed.
Bella Jimenez (3 years ago)
Thank you for introducing me to freshii! I always complain how the US has so many vegan restaurants and goodies to chose from when Canada seems to have barely. So I'm super excited we have a Freshiis here!
noohlignuj (3 years ago)
I had to take a motion sickness tablet after watching this because the camera jerking around at all the potato signs made me nauseous
Seance Queen (3 years ago)
Wow they have better restaurants in CA than on the East Coast near NYC! They are more plant friendly! Here all the restaurants are meat and steak and chicken! I'm moving to CA :)
Katherine Lauber (3 years ago)
I wish I lived in california! Kentucky might be the worst state for veg
The Vegan Metalhead (2 years ago)
I can only imagine i live in the state north of you called ohio in a very redneckish place so being vegan here is a nightmare but growing i mean there is a restaurant that opened up in the last 4 years with quite a few options either vegan or can be made that way including a house-made vegan burger.
Thuy Dung Cao (3 years ago)
Can you do a general one on normal restaurants as well (not chains) like greek restaurants, indian restaurants, etc....?
M D (3 years ago)
I just LOVE the setup of this video. A lot of YT'ers post these but never give helpful information such as where they are located, the cost and nutritional facts. Such a breath of fresh air for REAL knowledge!
Eren Sakarcan (3 years ago)
Lol HCLF restaurant life isn't really too possible when you're in a place like south carolina..... obviously california has plenty of possibility.........

Hi there! New to your channel, I love it! I have been trying to see what Kayla Itsines does and figured it's not for me! I am a lacto vegetarian and I don't want someone to tell me my vegetables, I know them so much more than someone who doesn't care to include them in their diet! If you have recipes do keep them coming and thanks for the content :) good luck

Great video!
Atheria PsychicGal (3 years ago)
You are making me miss California! There are so many more healthy options there than here in New Mexico. I am envious of all the gluten you can eat. When I was a regular vegan for years, it was never hard to eat out. But when I found out I had a gluten problem...well...being gluten free AND low fat vegan is hard. I only very rarely eat out anymore. I love Sabrina's hat! :-) Atheria

So cool!! I'd love to see more videos like this, restaurant or at home :) I wish I had a Potato place like that!! It looks so yummy. Thanks for giving the prices, that helps!!
Stuart Shepherd (3 years ago)
I live in central Florida on the Atlantic coast. We don't have the restaurant choices you have. It is tough to eat in a restaurant. My wife is not a vegan and likes to eat out. I usually eat a salad and watch my wife eat a steak. Some restaurants have some vegetarian choices but they seem to want to put cheese on everything. I don't eat any cheese. I like to eat my own food at home.
Potato Strong (3 years ago)
Could you do a video on how you got started with vegsource (if you haven't), meeting the docs, the vegsource forums, running conferences, etc. You seem to have a good business and marketing sense going. And how your daughters got such a huge following online.
Potato Strong (3 years ago)
Great, I'll check it out!
VegSource (3 years ago)
+Potato Strong Hey Will -- good idea. Will put it on my list. Meanwhile I have told the story in various ways, here is an intro I did in 2011 at our Expo in which I tell our story, how we went veg, vegan, created & built VegSource, met McDougall and many many others and built VegSource. But there's a lot more I could tell in addition. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrGSmXN2scs

why dont you just ask for no chips and huac if your not gonna eat it anyway at sharkies?

Thanks for highlighting some well-deserving businesses. We had a Freshii in DC but it closed : ( I highly recommend that you check out a loved company from Washington DC that just made it to LA. Sweetgreen has amazing salads and several great vegan options. They are committed to quality started out just 8 years ago.
