Beginning at the top right edge, skip the first 4 loops, place your hook in the 5th loop, skip a loop, put the next loop on your hook, do this 9 more times, grab that first loop and pull the first loop through all the loops for the first ruffle. So Just Repeat this for each ruffle, skip a loop, and put the next loop on your hook, skip a loop, do this 10 times(you will have 10 loops on hook to pull through the first loop for each ruffle), and grab the first loop and pull the first loop through all the loops for each ruffle. If you want a shorter scarf, you can end earlier. Or you can add more loops to your hook, you can add 15 loops instead of ten for a shorter scarf. If you want a longer scarf and do the pattern above, do 10 loops for each ruffle and do it to almost the end. After you worked the last ruffle, At the end to Finish, there will be 10-15 loops or so left or when you prefer to stop, grab the end and wrap your hook around it (the video shows how to do this), pull the end through the rest of the loop on your hook. Tighten it, you can secure it with a knot, then cut the tail off, and leave a 1/2 inch or so, And the other end, secure it with a knot and you can cut too. Then the ruffle scarf is finished and ready to wear. Nice, I'm going to try this. You make it look interesting. Not to mention easy. How ever I know it's not. I'm sure I'm all thumbs when it comes to this. I'm picturing in my mind I will be like Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act which is trying to thread the needle and puts them beads together. Lol

Thank you for your easy-to-understand explanation. I got several ruffles made but had to put my work down quickly and my hook came out and I lost what progress I had made. Is there any way to secure the ruffle after making before doing the next one? Thank you for any help.
Abby Normal (1 year ago)
You can place a locking or split ring stitch marker into the last loop on your hook so your work doesn't unravel : )
Crochet Jewel (2 years ago)
I would try to hold it with your fingers best you can or maybe place a hook or clip to secure it
Royal Flush (2 years ago)

FYI I took my yarn and ironed the entire skein first and it made it so much easier to work with.
[email protected] (1 year ago)
I want to spread it as I Iron it and then lightly spray with spray starch so that it will hold it's shape and not crumble into a ball... I like big ruffles.
JoAnn Wilson (3 years ago)
+sandra managan I thought about doing that Sandra. Next skein, I will. Do the ruffles look better when yarn is ironed?

A lot of videos on ruffle scarves are hard to understand. I found this one and it was awesome!
Angie Miller (4 years ago)
I have used a hook & latch needle.
Jenna Talleda (4 years ago)
Hi there! I'm having trouble with the scarf coming apart as I'm working on it. I do 10 stitches and pull thru and then do the next ruffle. Is there another step to tighten it? Thanks!
Crochet Jewel (4 years ago)
+Jenna Talleda hmm, make sure you pulled through all your loops. Not sure you need a step to tighten it if you just pull through all your loops.
Rene Jackson (4 years ago)
...also good for beginners.
Rene Jackson (4 years ago)
I love this pattern.  I made one like this last year using the blue/silver red heart yarn.  Very easy to do, especially if you know how to crochet.
Geneva Harris (4 years ago)
How can the scarf be made with a loom
myraquilt (4 years ago)
+Crochet Jewel there are instructions on YouTube for Loom Knitting ruffle scarfs.
Laura Mccall (4 years ago)
It is very simple to do I use a flower loom and I start with the 2nd hole on the yarn, then I go around once then again, then you remove the first row by taking it over the second , the second row becomes the first then you go around again creating a second row you remove the row at the bottom the process continues until you get to the end .
Crochet Jewel (4 years ago)
+Geneva Harris i dont know
Pugalicious (4 years ago)
Thank-you SO much for helping me! I am a beginner and made this easy scarf. You are amazing, thank-you!! :3
Great!  Easy to follow.  You are very patient, especially when your last loop came out unintentionally.  You don't get flustered, and that helps.  I'm going to make one now!  Thank you
Sherri Lystila (4 years ago)
Thank you.  It is well presented and easy to follow.  I have seen these scarves selling for $25.  Now I can make a few last minute Christmas gifts.

Beverly Mears (4 years ago)
I love you video you made it so easy. So Thank you but I still need help. Every time I do a skein and how hard I try it comes out twisted. So could give a tip on how I stop that. I would be so grateful
Jessica Cali (4 years ago)
+Jenny Lenh I just did my first one & worked from the outside. I had the same problem with the yarn becoming twisted. Thankfully, it wasn't hard to get it undone by just running my thumb down the middle!
MeliciouS1185 (4 years ago)
+Jenny Lenh If you pull the string from the center of the ball instead of the outside it wont roll around at all! :) Also, it doesn't get tangled!
Jenny Lenh (4 years ago)
i used to have the same issue because of pulling yarn from the center. Never have that problem any more since pulling from outside, although the yarn rolls around more
Crochet Jewel (4 years ago)
+Beverly Mears Im not sure why its getting twisted, I would just keep watching the video or look up another video too
Jessica Le (4 years ago)

Your instructions are very good; however, I would like to have seen the completed scarf to see how the ruffles lay. Thanks for a really nice video.
