45531 ratings | 7223360 views
Learn how to create a 30 minute infinity scarf using a very simple arm knitting technique. So easy, anyone can do it! Buy yarn here: http://amzn.to/2eJ1pbH (affiliate link) UPDATED ARM KNITTING VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmFP_3M0ObE DIY FINGER KNIT BOOT CUFFS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAYuGWPvQdM&list=UUtXAIoT2XT9KrycmU7iJxqw Yarn brand: Lions Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick Colors used: Lighter scarf - Oatmeal, (http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/we-thick.htm?categoryKey=1419769&start=0&pageLength=15) Maroon/Red scarf - Spice (http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/we-thick.htm?categoryKey=1419769&start=15&pageLength=15) TIPS: - The tail goes around your thumb as you are casting on and will get shorter as you go which is why we start with a really long tail. - You can use 2 different colors! - My scarf was 12 stitches wide and about 25-30 stitches long - You can use less bulky yarn, but to achieve this look you will need #6 bulky

I just want to thank you for this tutorial! I used your video 4 years ago to make tons of scarves! My old scarves started looking rough so I wanted to make some more to refresh my scarf collection. I was looking all through Pinterest and none of the other tutorials were as helpful but I finally found your video again and it’s been so helpful in teaching me how to hand knit TWICE now! Thank you!

This is really confusing
Paula Roberts (1 year ago)
Awesome. You make it so easy to learn, nice and slow. I watched your vid the same afternoon I made my first hand knit, except I used my thumbs only as a finger knit instead of my arms, as I wanted a smaller knit. Thank you.

Can this type of scarf be used by guys?? I'm making a crafty present for my best friend... And I was thinking of making a scarf for him since its cold from where he is right now...

You CAN use one ball of yarn......Smaller scarf but all you do is use the outside yarn and the inside yarn together.

How many yards of yarn do you need to make this?
Michelle Merrick (2 years ago)
I thought I had it then realized my tail ends up very short just after my first row of stitches. I have gone back and made it longer and it still ends up short. What am I doing wrong?
mira lina (2 years ago)
I love it thanks
Thanks for making this video! Me and my mom made tons of these to give to all our girl relatives as Christmas presents. :)

Does it matter what type of yarn you are using?
Abigail (2 years ago)
Anu Oumapathy yes I'm pretty sure you need to use the bulky
Hoseoks Butt (2 years ago)
im thinking about doing this on my plane ride to south Carolina or on the road trip from SC to Virginia xD
Tashy C (2 years ago)
I was't able o find any bulky yarn, so my yarn is pretty thin...does this tutorial still work for "skinnier" yarn?
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
+Tashy C It will still work it just won't be as full as mine is in the video.

Could you help me? I think I have it but then when I cast on the my other arm, after casting on my right arm, the last loop(which was the slipknot) always ends up super duper loose o.e Waaay loose than yours happens to be ; - ; Pleeeease respond, even though I know this video is old
Kali Octopus (2 years ago)
Katrina zapinski oh wow thanks so much!!
Katrina Maria (2 years ago)
Kali Octopus I was having the same problem! U have to hold ur hands and arms really close together when you're knitting or else it will become very very loose at the ends.
Im just a beginner of knitting so I don't really know that much about knitting
Amstalight (2 years ago)
Loved the video! I make videos also if you want to check them out, if not its cool but it would mean a lot :) Keep up the good work and i'm happy I found you before you become big on youtube :)

how do you do that
Fluffy Girl Adventures (2 years ago)
You made learning how to do this easy breezy!! Thanks
Dolce Vita (2 years ago)
When you started out you put the working yarn on your thumb. It should be the other way around. Now when you put the camera at your point of view it was correct. A little confusing at first.

really nice m gonna try dis...

omg I love it .,this will make my friend jealous..
Magic Handz (2 years ago)
Thank you for the post!
What is a good knot for tying two lengths of differing yarn colors in a scarf like this? I was thinking maybe a blood knot to give the separate colors more distinction. A Carrick bend would look nice but I wouldn't know how to incorporate it into the knitting process. A Zeppelin bend seems to feature "knit-table" loops as does the hunters bend.
ATHENA PETERSON (2 years ago)
Can u use just one scane on yarn?
Jack Creation (2 years ago)
Very nice

i love your video this is very detail. thank you so much for sharing.
C STOUT (2 years ago)
so I'm thinking about trying out the arm stitch. I always find that store bought scarves are just not thick enough for me lol. when you first start the scarf how do you know how many stitches to do I guess to establish the width of the scarf. is it just an eyeballing like "this is how thick it should be" or is there a certain amount of stitches to do generally. thanks! and I love the maroon color ❤
C STOUT (2 years ago)
Audra Kurtz no you didn't otherwise I would not have asked the question wasn't "how many". but I figured out what I was asking from another helpful video. thanks anyway.
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
+C STOUT I believe I did 12, but it should say in the video or video description!
jorge saracco (2 years ago)
How many scarfs can you make with both bundles of yarn??? (with the length that you made in the video)
Katie Greene (2 years ago)
what do you do when you're all done but your loops come loose??
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
+Audra Kurtz it*
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
+Katie Greene Hmm I'm not sure what you mean? Like is I falling apart?
Hannah Foreman (2 years ago)
For some reason mine never looks this fluffy and full, just droopy and sad.
Hannah Foreman (2 years ago)
Audra Kurtz I'm using the Lion Brand number six super bulky, 5 oz
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
+Hannah Foreman Hmm, what weight yarn are you using??
Thereza Ruiz Faria (2 years ago)
Basma's World (2 years ago)
What is the thickness of the wool
Teresa J.S. (2 years ago)
It's a 6 oz yarn, also labeled as a #6.
Erika Visagie (2 years ago)
Hi Audra, liked your video. Just a tip that will make knitting a bit easier. When you start, do not take the outside end of the yarn. Pull it from the inside and you will have no balls of yarn bouncing around while you knit or the need to stop and pull some yarn free.
emily dream (2 years ago)
how can i add another wool ball plz answer me ?
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
Hooray! Glad it turned out well! 😊
emily dream (2 years ago)
thank you so much i did it and it's so beutiful ;) as yours
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
Emily Dream yes! You just need to attach one end to the other with a knot.
phuc nguyen (2 years ago)
Wonderful video indeed! Thanks for the instruction! Also, can I do a long scarf with this knitting pattern?
phuc nguyen (2 years ago)
Audra Kurtz much appreciated!
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
Yes, you definitely can!
Marie Marcella (2 years ago)
This may have already been asked but I'm not going to scroll through 2,300 comments lol, how many yards are in each yarn bundle? Thanks!
Marie Marcella (2 years ago)
Ok thank you! Glad I asked. I only have 4 at 27 yards each. I'll have to exchange them for 2 this way I don't over complicate this.
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
Marie Marcella They are 106 yards per skein 🙂
Victoria Burchfield (2 years ago)
Hope you are still looking at comments! I made my first arm knot infinity scarf (I used 3 skeins in 3 different colors!) and it looks great but I don't like how bulky the seam is where the two ends come together. Any recommendations on how to make that a little smoother?
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
Ah, yes, I used two and then just weave with one strand and it wasn't very thick.
Victoria Burchfield (2 years ago)
Thanks for the quick reply! I think using 3 strands really made it thick but I like how it turned out. Next time I might try tying the seam with only one strand instead of 3 and see if that helps. Because I used 3 strands I only made it 6 stitches wide. I tried 12 at first and it was too much. So I have plenty of yarn left to try again! Great video. Thanks!
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
Of course, here I am! I love talking with my viewers :) Hmmmm, I would say try weaving it together tightly would make it a thinner seam. Also, maybe try weaving it as little as possible, just enough to keep it bound together. I hope that helps!

Sisley Valdes (2 years ago)
great video. it would have been nice if you kept using the first color. the 2nd color made it a little harder for me to see what was going on
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
+Sisley Valdes Yeahhhh that was my first ever YouTube video so I didn't think about it lol glad you enjoyed the video though!

Thank you!
Thanks for this. It is so clear! I am really handy, so I don't know why I never get knitting and crocheting tutorials when I am so interested. (My mother tried teaching me crocheting as a kid and gave up, so maybe it's trauma related hahah) This must be the first instruction I have ever understood in the area. You are really an excellent teacher. xx
Audra Haddock (2 years ago)
Aww, thanks!
Whitney Baglien (2 years ago)
how much yarn did you end up with when you finished your scarf?
Anthony Day (2 years ago)
I really appreciate how you went slow and you explained everything more than once so beginners like me can understand easily. Thank you so much for the awesome tutorial, and I hope you have a great day!

Audra Haddock (3 years ago)
+Samantha Esther I've gotten that a few times and Kate Voegele :)
I have a question? The first scarf I made came out great. when I went to make another one I noticed that when casting on the first cast and the last cast the casting threat is at one end and the tail end is at the opposite end, I cant figure out what I am doing wrong and does it really make a difference?
Alex Thewolf (3 years ago)
what happens when you wanna take a break xP, im joking btw
Alexis Cayard (3 years ago)
I did the same thing but I used the same type of yarn I just did it with one bind of yarn I stead of two and it came out good maybe you should try .but great job with this you really helped me out with the to yarn arm stitching

Anne-Marie Kittiphanh (3 years ago)
Hey Audra! I think you did a great job with the tutorial video, I just finished watching this one; I think I'll be doing infinity scarfs at some point soon, cause I have mostly been doing knitted blankets since 2005 or something - however I've been encouraged to do more than blankets, then when I saw "diy" stuff I figured why not. I have like 2 large bags of wool that I can use for something other than blankets. I wonder, does it matter how thick or thin the wool to use is or no? Cause when I do blankets, the wool that I knit aren't all the same thread strength; so the outcome is a bit weird but good nonetheless. If you could help me out, it would be great. Thanks.
Stephanie (3 years ago)
This video was absolutely great and helpful! You explained how to make it really well. Could you make another video on how to knit the two sides together to make it infinity. You briefly explained but you should have recorded you doing it. Thank you!
Some1wonThere (3 years ago)
You need to explain things better
