ULTIMATE FASHION HISTORY: The Italian (and Spanish) Renaissance

23:03
In this episode of The Ultimate Fashion History, we will look at fashion in The Italian Renaissance, starting with The Quattrocento and moving to the Cinquecento, but we'll also take a trip to the Spanish and Portuguese royal courts of the 1500s and grapple with some theories as to why Court Attire (and hair) was so weird. Enjoy!

First Time at the RENAISSANCE FAIRE! (Beauty Trippin)

13:44
Beauty Trippin is going where it's NEVER gone before: the RENAISSANCE FAIRE!! First-timer Joslyn and Ren Faire pro Jarrett party like it's 1499 - complete with medieval costumes, turkey legs, and ye old tyme shenanigans. SUBSCRIBE for MORE ►► http://bit.ly/SubClevverStyle Watch last week's episode AKA Full Body of Glitter ►► https://youtu.be/TYJv6PEWYKI Ren Faires and Festivals are basically Coachella...except, instead of rappers there's lute players and instead of glitter there's cosplay!! Totally the same thing. Joslyn's a fashionista who has never been near a Ren Faire and is totally new to LARPing. Jarrett is a DND-loving athlete who used to work the henna booth. Today, they transform into LADY REGINA and LORD REGINALD - the aristocratic twin heirs of a great kingdom plotting to get rid of the other (if only their sordid affair didn't get in the way...) Yeah, this Beauty Trippin shopping challenge goes from King Arthur to Game of Thrones pretty fast - ENJOY!! Hair History: 15th Century | Early Renaissance

06:46
In this video I share with you how to create a high class hairstyle inspired by 15th century fashion, also known as early Renaissance. The natural loose 15th century style was defined by soft braids, waves and hair adornments. All throughout Europe the fashion was to wear the hair in braids coiled around the head. Trailer: Dressing a Renaissance Queen

01:01
http://costumetrek.com/ Dressing a Renaissance Queen is a short documentary film about the unusual circumstances surrounding the wedding of the future Queen Marie de Medici. The film takes you through the various stages of her dressing process detailing the dress itself and its relation to fashion of the time, along with facts surrounding her proxy wedding to King Henry the IV of France in 1600. The culmination of over a year's work, this labor of love is our pride and joy. The dress used in the video was researched and designed by professional costume designer Nola Yergen. Please peruse our “About Us” section to learn more about her. Currently we cannot show the video in its entirety as it is being submitted to various film festivals. It has been accepted into the Lady Filmmakers Festival in Beverly Hills, CA and will be shown during the event on the weekend of Sep. 28-30th, 2018. Iran's Fashion Renaissance: VICE Reports

10:18
Click here to subscribe to VICE: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE Before Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution, citizens weren't required to wear the Islamic cover known as the hijab and the country's fashion was almost identical to that of the United States and Europe. After the revolution, though, the hijab became required by law. Although the standard black hijab is still commonplace—especially in rural areas in the country—Iran has recently seen a fashion renaissance, and cities like Tehran are becoming home to new and innovative designers. The clothing may still have to respect the Islamic dress codes, but the bright colors and designs would never have been seen a decade ago in Iran. Last summer, VICE went to Tehran to attend the third annual Fajr Fashion Show and speak with some of Iran's new designers. The country's top officials—responsible for granting permission for the show—were all seated in the front row to show show their support. And to make sure the models were adhering to the country's law. Alberta Ferretti's Renaissance-inspired collection wows at Milan Fashion Week - le mag

To see and be seen - that's the name of the game at Milan Fashion Week. The "Gucci show":http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/2063c282-bd02-11e4-a917-00144feab7de.html drew both anonymous and famous fashion fans alike, as crowds were keen to discover the first ever collection by newly appointed art director Alessandro Michele. And the change was radical. Gone were the plush carpets, glittering chandeliers and trays of champagne that traditionally greet Gucci guests. Hair History: 16th Century | Renaissance

06:49
In today's episode of Hair History, we're going over the 16th century, also known as the middle of the renaissance. We see two different major fashions in this period. One is a continuation of the middle parting with braids that was so popular in the 15th century, and the other is an increasingly high hairstyle with a large pouf at the front of the head, in the style of Elizabeth I. Making The Renaissance Scarlet Dress - Entire Process

22:49
This is the full process video of me making The Renaissance Scarlet Dress. Like all my creations it was designed, drafted and sewn by me, I created the patterns myself and the dress was almost entirely hand sewn. Oana Heller helped me by hemming some parts at the sewing machine, and she's also the model wearing the dress. She created the headdress she's wearing which was 100% hand made and hand sewn by her. You can find the dress here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/500540744/renaissance-dress-couture-gown-fantasy?ref=shop_home_feat_1 And the headdress here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/514039471/flower-crown-roses-crown-headdress?ref=shop_home_feat_2 I will probably split this video in more shorter videos detailing the process of some of these steps, such as how to pleat, how to make smocking, how to make beaded smocking, etc. The video quality isn't great because I filmed much of the process at night, because I'm a night owl, and the lighting in my room isn't the best. I hope my videos will improve in the future because I plan on making more of them! Please follow me if you like my creations!
