What makes a truly great logo

04:45
Here's how a simple mark ends up meaning something big as a great logo. Joe Posner, and Michael Bierut (designer of the Hillary Clinton logo) explain. For more from Michael Bierut on graphic design, check out his book "How to use graphic design to sell things, explain things, make things look better, make people laugh, cry, and (every once in a while) change the world": http://www.amazon.com/How-Michael-Bierut/dp/0062413902 Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO About once a month, there's a new logo to fight about on the internet. The biggest one in recent memory was the highly controversial Hillary Clinton logo, which did not escape scrutiny from Vox.com either. But as a designer/filmmaker, something about these repeated discussions struck me as missing the point on what makes logos tick. It often has little to do with the subjective musings. So I called up Michael Bierut, the designer of that Hillary Clinton logo and countless others. He sat down with me and helped explain the elements of a great logo in the video above. Vox.com is a news website that helps you cut through the noise and understand what's really driving the events in the headlines. Brand identity guidelines. A walk through guide of a brand identity / logo guidelines document.

07:11
I've had many requests to do a video where I run through an example of a brand identity guidelines document. So, I am happy to oblige :) Brand identity or logo guidelines as they can often be referred to; are a useful way of quickly accessing technical details about your logo such as colour codes and font types. They are also a way of making sure that your logo is always presented in the way that it is intended, no matter who is using it. Stay Creative! How To Build Brand Identity

04:18
Are you a new business looking to build your brand? It's about more than just a slogan and logo - here are a few key tips on building your brand from the ground up! Share this video with the following branded link: https://Rebrandly.Video/BrandIdentity So you’ve got a logo…Maybe even a slogan…But that doesn’t mean you’ve got a brand. Too many people in this world think that branding begins with choosing a brand name and ends with hiring a designer to pop out a generic logo. But the truth is branding is for marketers and business owners...Read more here: https://Rebrandly.Blog/Brand SUBSCRIBE for more from Rebrandly: https://Rebrandly.Video/Subscribe Transcript: - So, you've got a logo and maybe even a slogan, but that's not a brand. Too many people in this world think that branding begins with choosing a brand name and ends with hiring a designer to slap a few colors on any old generic logo and that's it. Now, if you're one of those people just give me a few minutes, okay? Let's fix that perception. Some people think that building a brand is a task strictly left for graphic designers. No, nuh-uh, wrong. The truth is branding is from marketers and business owners. Branding takes place at every touchpoint, every interaction with the consumer, and every time they think of your brand. Most importantly, branding is ultimately controlled by the customers. Too many companies think that they get to choose their brand while you only really get to influence how your customer sees you, not the other way around. So to help, we've put together a quick look at some of the key elements that go into building a strong brand identity. First up, being responsive and consistent. Don't just build things because they make you happy. You take an action, you see how the customer responds, take on more of the feedback, and then you implement that into your brand strategy going forward. By monitoring your audience responses as you go, you can see what does or doesn't work while consistently engaging with them. And of course, there's no need to alter every fiber of your company's being with every piece of feedback but keep an eye out and take things in. Next up, authenticity. Now, it should really mean something to say that a brand is authentic. But what does that mean? Truly authentic brands understand themselves at the deepest level. And they're able to foster meaningful and long lasting relationships with customers. And not only are customers more likely to trust an authentic brand, they're more likely to recommend it, which is key. Third, creating a brand strategy. A brand is never truly done. Over time they change, they evolve, they develop. I mean, you can see that in logos alone. Branding is a daily process of bringing multiple aspects of your business and voice together and then adjusting them to what the customer expects from you. Next up, brand story. Now this relates back to credibility. How did you as a company come to be? And what makes you so passionate about solving this particular problem? The term storytelling is used a lot but this isn't just about telling a good story. It's about telling people what your company stands for and getting them to stand behind the ideals of your business. Then we have brand essence. Now this is when we get to your company's core values. What principles will shape your company's culture? Now, many companies out there will claim to differentiate themselves with values like, we're transparent. We have have a great company culture, there's no company out there like us. Okay, okay, well done, fine. These unique core values that so many companies profess kind of become the standard for tech start-ups. Which is good, it just means that we can all stop stating the obvious and look for really unique, new, fantastic ways to differentiate ourselves. It's time to show instead of tell. Think of what truly unique values you have and build them into your company culture from day one. And finally, brand differentiation. Copying the same strategy as another company is the tactic reserved by those most dastardly of villains who just aren't creative enough to come up with their own ideas. Don't be a copycat. Originality is way more fun. This all comes back to defining your unique selling point, your USP. What does your brand have that others don't? And how can you position your company in a way that it can't be replicated? This also goes back to understanding the one thing that you are best at and turning that into a message. ********************************************************************* Rebrandly: Your brand on your links 🔗 Rebrandly is the easiest way to create and share branded short links using a custom domain name! Brand Identity and Packaging Process

06:13
How do you design a brand identity system? How do you develop a logo? What is the packaging design process? How do you come up with ideas and explore options? Today's episode features The Futur's graphic designer, Min Hye Cho, who shares her step by step process to re-design the Energizer Battery packaging. Chris Do sits down with Min to review her design work and talk about her process. Here's Min's process for this assignment: Brainstorming prompts: Before designing anything, Min finds an inspiring image and uses it to come up with words or prompts that will guide her designs. The logo wordmark: Using the prompts as a guide, she chooses a typeface and starts sketching shapes, icons, and images that come to mind. Going deep with exploration, trying lots of ideas. She then chooses the 3 best wordmarks, refines them and adds color. The packaging: She again goes into exploration mode and creates lots of different packaging designs. Exhausting many design options. Again, she narrows it down to the best ones and refines them into actual size mockups. At this point, she is done and ready to present her work to the boss or client. #GraphicDesign #LogoDesign #PackagingDesign === 👉Subscribe: https://goo.gl/vB9zoP 👉See our main channel: https://goo.gl/F2AEbk #TheFutur Want a deeper dive? What is Brand Identity? A company's brand identity is how that business wants to be perceived by consumers. The components of the brand (name, logo, tone, tagline, typeface) are created by the business to reflect the value the company is trying to bring to the market and to appeal to its customers. Brand Identity Designer - Custom Brand Name Designer

https://www.fiverr.com/waqarrasheed1/do-creative-logo-designs Brand Identity Designer - Custom Brand Name Designer If you need perfect Brand identity / LOGO for your company, business, or website contact me: Email: [email protected] Portfolio: https://www.behance.net/waqarthedesigner waqarrasheed.deviantart.com/gallery/ Brand identity designer, First, we need a clear definition of what branding actually is. In the graphic design section of the website About.com, the following definition is offered: "To create a 'brand' for a company is to create their image, and to promote that image with campaigns and visuals. brand identity designer, brand identity designer, "Working in branding allows a graphic designer or design firm to get involved with many aspects of the industry, from logo design to advertising to copywriting and slogans. The goal of a brand is to make a company unique and recognisable, and to project a desired image." brand identity designer, brand identity designer, A more nuanced definition is provided by Seth Godin, an author and entrepreneur who has been lauded as America's greatest marketer. For Godin, a brand is "the set of expectations, memories, stories and relationships that, taken together, account for a consumer's decision to choose one product or service over another". brand identity designer, brand identity designer, Godin also goes on to make the point that a brand "used to be a logo or a design or a wrapper. Today, that's a shadow of the brand, something that might mark the brand's existence. But just as it takes more than a hat to be a cowboy, it takes more than a designer prattling on about texture to make a brand." He concludes by stating that, in brand creation, "design is essential, but design is not brand." brand identity designer, brand identity designer, In an age where companies think branding strategists can solve all their problems, Adrian Shaughnessy argues that designers should take back control. brand identity designer, brand identity designer, Graphic designers rarely question the practice or culture of branding. Hardly surprising, since the creation of brand identities and branded communications is what provides so many graphic designers with a living. Designers need clients, and clients want branding. brand identity designer, brand identity designer, Vast swathes of the public love brands, and we live in a world where everything and everyone from Premiership football clubs to former Big Brother contestants think of themselves as brands. brand identity designer, brand identity designer, So, if designers want to have plenty of work, it's probably wise not to look too closely at what branding is, and what its effects are on the profession of design or on the wider culture. However, this unquestioning assimilation of brand culture is inevitably raising questions of its own. brand identity designer, brand identity designer, For example, why have hundreds of designers chosen to call themselves 'brand designers', or even worse, 'brand imagineers'? brand identity designer, brand identity designer, And why has the term 'identity designer' been widely abandoned, when it more accurately - and perhaps more honestly - describes what the majority of 'brand designers' actually do? brand identity designer, Opposition to branding | brand identity designer, brand identity designer, Of course, beyond the world of design it is not the case that everyone accepts branding unreservedly. There are those, such as anti-capitalist activists, who are opposed to branding in all its forms and see it as a representation of unacceptable corporate power.brand identity designer, brand identity designer, There are also social commentators and cultural thinkers who see our obsession with brands as evidence of enslavement to materialism and consumption. brand identity designer, If you need perfect Brand identity for your company, business, or website contact me: Email: [email protected] https://www.fiverr.com/waqarrasheed/design-2-killer-premium-signature-logo Facebook.com twitter.com

College of Charleston Athletics Unveils New Brand Identity

02:23
College of Charleston Athletics, in collaboration with Gil Shuler Graphic Design, has unveiled a new brand and identity logo system that coincides with and celebrates the Cougars' inaugural season as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. The new logos were the result of a comprehensive analysis and selection process by a committee comprised of representatives from athletics, senior administration, marketing and communications and the College's Alumni Association. The eight-month process originated with the goal of identifying a distinctive logo for the College and its athletics programs. The extensive review process included focus groups with alumni, students, faculty and staff, as well as meaningful input from coaches from each of the 21 varsity sports teams. College officials were fortunate to work alongside a highly respected graphic design firm that understands and appreciates both the history and growing national reputations of the College and the City of Charleston. Gil Shuler and his staff did extensive research to create a classic logo that should stand the test of time. The new athletics logo incorporates a clean block "C" with a serif that can be traced back to several different decades -- 1890s, 1920s, 1940s and 1960s -- of athletics history at the College. Alternate versions of the new logo that incorporate "The College" and "Cougars" were developed for multi-use on in-game gear and merchandise.

5 Ways to Use Your Logo & Corporate Identity More Effectively

04:15
Your logo and visual identity are the heart of your branding and marketing strategy. Here are 5 simple ways to use your small or medium business logo more effectively. ====================================== Website: http://www.fuelblue.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/fuelblue Fuelblue: https://www.facebook.com/thisisfuelblue ====================================== The other day I learned that the McDonald’s golden arches are the most recognized icon on Earth. It’s so well recognized because McDonald’s uses their logo everywhere. On its stores; on its packaging; and as a beacon in the night to hungry travelers. Now most businesses don’t need nearly that level of recognition to be successful, but I do think that most businesses could be using their logos a little more efficiently. So here are 5 ways your logo could be more effective. Number one, it’s got to be good, and it’s got to be timeless. Remember, your logo is the visual representative of your brand. If people see cliche clip art, they will assume your business is a dime a dozen, and that your products and services come cheap. If they see something slapped together as an afterthought, they’ll assume your work is of the same calibre. Take the time to identify what you want your brand image to be - what you want people to think of when they think of you. Then draw that. Because that’s your logo. And if you can’t do that yourself, hire someone who can. Number two, it always has to be the same, regardless of how or where you’re using it. The same colors, same text and fonts, same layout, same dimensions. Chances are you are not FedEx. You do not need different versions of your logo for different aspects of your company. Consistency in your presentation creates familiarity with your brand. Familiarity, over time, creates trust. Number three, put it on everything. Your logo should be on your business cards, stationery, invoices and internal paperwork, web site, videos, email and print marketing materials, your packaging, boxes you ship out - and when applicable, on your uniforms, vehicles, or building. Any place that you think is appropriate, and interacts with your audience, should have your logo. Number four, think of your logo as the emphasis and punctuation to your brand message, not the message itself. Your logo doesn’t need to take up three quarters of your home page or brochure cover to be effective. Make it as big as necessary to be recognized and remembered, but no bigger. Your branding message, or what you say in your marketing, is about your audience - it’s not about you. People look at your web site to find a solution to their problem, not to learn how awesome you are. And number five, you have to back it up. Having the greatest brand image and logo in the world is meaningless if you can’t back up what they claim. If your brand image is telling people that you’re the best widget maker, or best solution provider, then you’d better be able to back that up in real life. Otherwise, your logo will quickly become a symbol of irony, rather than a symbol of excellence. There you go. Make a timeless, professional logo Always present it the same way Put it on everything that represents your brand, both publicly and internally Make it a punctuation to the message, not the message itself And back it up with sheer awesome =================================== Fuelblue creates new videos every Monday for small & medium business CEOs and entrepreneurs. CSQD - Logo Design Vs. Brand Identity

04:38
If you own a business, you will need a logo designed at some point. Whether you are a start up or looking to rebrand, here's a quick video on what to expect from a graphic designer Vs. a brand agency. I focus on what’s included, the main differences and the option that will best suit your needs. Logo design by a general graphic designer • Cheap option • Not invested in your business • Don’t understand your business and target audience • Motivation is money • Quick turnaround • Quantity over quality • No budget to dive deep and explore options • Poor resources and little experience • Generic stock imagery that is potentially repeated for other business logos • You are the decision maker - no professional guidance from someone invested in your brand Brand identity by a brand agency • Invested in your business and brand • Dives deep into your target audience, tone of voice and market differentiations • Growth and future focused • Budget and resources to create something amazing • Unique and customised design from a whole team of designers • Professional with experience and knowledge • View the brand as a whole - not just the logo • Develop strategy and intentions on getting the most out of your brand
