OMAR TAHA: My ideal client is a client that is doing relatively well in the market. They have a strong marketing position, yet there are in efficiencies in their backend marketing infrastructure. That sounds like a mouthful but what that means is that they're not tracking the necessary data that could get them more recurrent business, more recurring clients. That client just necessarily has the raw data but it's for us to bring it together and get them to the next level and set up that infrastructure so they're collecting the data making their company more profitable and more valuable to potential investors or buy-outs. A lot of my competition is very short-term because a lot of clients are short-term. They think that immediate boost in revenue, that means that's a good marketing firm. However, with me ... I have a former investment banking experience and I'm very much into valuation and buy-outs and so forth ... is getting the long-term valuation for your company through marketing. And so with us, we're more of a long-term data-driven consulting firm where we focus on teaching our clients and coaching our clients to set up this infrastructure that gets the most value per customer, in addition to that, decreasing the ad spend so you're having a higher profit and a long-term strategy of collecting more data and getting smarter than your competitors. Many of the companies we work for, they have a unique selling position. However, in the market today, things are getting much more competitive and we have companies stealing each other's unique selling positions all the time. What makes people different in the market and gets them results time and time again is just communicating a unique mechanism. What is a unique mechanism? It's the one thing that makes your company so unique that your competitors can't even compete with. And a lot of times, there's confusion on, I don't have a unique mechanism. And what we tell a lot of our companies is just name what you do. Just implementing that one strategy will get results time and time again. The mistakes that people are making out there is blatant copying, copying your competitor's ads, copying the messaging and so forth. That does not work well and I don't advise anybody to go ahead and do that. First off is you're not collecting the same data on the backend. If you're copying an ad, you don't know if that ad is actually working. You might be copying the wrong thing, that's number one. Number 2 is that when you end up copying, you'd then become a me-too product. You're going to get ignored almost immediately. And the third reason why you don't want to do that, you can't be better than your competitors if you are copying them. What's the point of doing business if you can't be the best? I got my first client in the B2B space at the tender age of 22 years old. Essentially, I had a unique selling proposition which was I brought Wall Street executives to Dubai. And that was in 2006, when I first started it, was like a complete novelty. Every single company that I would speak to would be like, "Great. How do we sign up?" So, just having that unique selling position, by the time I was 24 we had about I think the six of the top 10 investment banks as clients. The biggest opportunity that I've seen over the last year is the emergence of a clean LinkedIn. LinkedIn in the B2B space has always been a form to get more client engagement and more clientele. And they've really cleaned up their act through video content, video ads. For us personally, we tend to use the LinkedIn messenger ads or the InMails all the time and they've worked on a consistent basis. And they continue to work because most of the time people get four or five messages on LinkedIn daily at most, whereas in their email box, they're getting 20 or 30 emails. Companies reading our emails and engaging with us is a lot more likely, so we're really bullish on the LinkedIn InMail strategy. The best book that I've read in business and marketing has been Breakthrough Advertising by Eugene Schwartzman. I went to the Wharton School, got my MBA in marketing. And that single book has taught me much more than any MBA. Essentially what the book teaches is that customers have heard of your messaging before. Unless you're having a trip to Mars or something about they've never heard before, getting customer's attention is almost impossible back in the 30s. Imagine how it is today. And the book is a classic in helping you create a unique selling position that will grab your customer's attention over and over again. And once you learned the methodology of Breakthrough Advertising, you can constantly do that for each and every product or service that you offer.

Companies in Silicon Valley raise millions of dollars, in many cases hundreds of millions, and sometimes even billions of dollars. Do you know what that money is mainly spent on, these days? Marketing and Sales, that's driven up costs drastically. There's even an age-old saying, do you know who the best marketer is, the one who can spend the most money on marketing. In other words, it's going to get more expensive, it's going to get harder and harder so what should you do. First, marketing isn't about marketing anymore. Marketing is about putting the user first. If you do what's best for them, you'll get the traffic, you'll get the sales. If you don't create something that's amazing, something that delights people, you're not going to do well, and if you don't know how to do that, you need to go back to the drawing board and talk to your potential customers. You can use tools like Hotjar, SurveyMonkey to survey them, you can pick up the phone and start calling people and getting their feedback. The second thing that you need to know is, marketing has changed to omnichannel approach. One channel isn't going to drive you the results that it used to, for all these older companies, the reason being is the landscape is more competitive. It doesn't mean marketing doesn't work, it just means it's competitive, and you're not going to get the results you want from each channel. But, if you combine them all, you can still do well. I want you to do things like collect emails, and leverage push notifications. By leveraging all of these channels, you're going to do better. The third thing that you need to know is, you need to have differentiation. Businesses online are a dime a dozen now. Everyone's considered creating a business online, more than they're even trying to create a business offline. People don't want all these retail stores, people don't want to have all these Verizon boots anymore, selling you cellular phone service. Instead, they want all these Internet and web-based companies that deliver within an hour, so that way they don't have all these fixed costs. In other words, if you can't differentiate yourself because there's more competition now, there's no reason for people to go with you, over your competition. For example, I use Apple computers, not because of the price, but because they connect with all my devices, they're seamless, they're easy to use, and they last a long time. And you do get a good product for the price. While there's a lot of other cheap PCs out there, a lot of them break, they get slowed down after you use them for like six months. You don't have those issues with an Apple computer. If you can't figure out what differentiates you from your competition, you won't do well. The fourth thing I want you to do is to leverage the rule of seven. When someone sees your brand seven times, they're much more likely to convert. If you don't engage and interact with them seven times, they're not going to do as well. So doing things like remarketing helps, and I know a lot of you are already doing that. The last thing I want you to do is to update your content. Update your site, continually improve your load time. In other words, I want you to keep getting better. Just because you're doing well doesn't mean you should stop. Things are going to keep getting harder, in the future years. So if you don't keep improving, eventually you're going to find that your traffic, your sales are all going to dip. Think of it this way, there's so many blogs out there, over a billion, that now Google doesn't want to just rank the best content, they also want to rank the freshest content, because they have so many to choose from. what is growth hacking? understanding growth hacking basics and best practices. growth hacking is a set of cross-disciplinary skills with 1 goal and 1 goal only: to grow a startup or a business. this means the only focus of a growth hacker is growth, growth and growth. the ultimate goal is to find a predictable, repeatable and scalable growth process. therefore, growth hacking is a process. and this is this process that many companies used to find new growth hacks. what people often forget when reading about successful growth hacking examples like uber, airbnb or facebook, it's that it took a long learning process before finding an effective growth hack. the growth hacking process can be applied either when you are building a startup from scratch or when your business is more advanced. first, it’s important as a startup to choose which metrics or kpis (key performance indicators) to focus on. each startup needs to have its own metrics. startups are defined by their search for growth and choosing the right kpis is key for your startup. in order to bring growth, a growth hacker has many channels he can use: seo, sem, social media (smo, smm), content marketing, pr, email marketing, online/offline event organizations, video marketing, aso, referral marketing (viral growth), ui/ux, gamification, business development/strategic alliances, sales… having an effective sales and marketing strategy in place is what can make your startup go from failure to success. growth hacking is nothing without analytics. without data analysis, growth hacking would be ineffective. you need to be able to track what you’re doing. every action you take needs to be trackable, if you can’t, then you cannot see results and you cannot improve your strategy. having a data-driven mindset is crucial. you don't just want to focus on acquisition, but also on your conversion rate optimization (cro), your retention, etc. users’ feedback is extremely important. during a/b testing, you need to get feedbacks from users. sometimes it can be annoying to get feedbacks, especially when it’s negative but it is crucial to improve your product and make it more user-centric. negative feedback is the most important actually. you need to take care of unhappy users/customers, they are the best ones. why? 96% of unhappy users leave your product without telling you why, which means you most likely won’t know what was wrong. the 4% telling you why, explain you and allow you to improve your product, which means they can become evangelists if they really like your product’s improvements. if they complain, it is usually because they need your product the most and they just want it to be perfect.

Should you choose goals based on the platforms (Google, Facebook, etc.), you plan to utilize for reaching new customers? Or should you choose to experiment with some marketing tactics that seem reasonable, commit to them, and go for it? If you tried either of those approaches, it’s likely that you didn’t get the results you were hoping to achieve. Trust me; we’ve all been there. Why don’t these approaches work? Because neither of these approaches is strategic, they are an assembly of tactics being passed off as a marketing strategy. You probably know by now that marketing is the mechanism that drives customers to your business. But a good marketing strategy isn’t about playing a game of copycat. Good marketing is about connecting with potential customers and making them familiar with your solution, then convincing them to go forward with your solution over all others. So if you want your business to grow, it’s important to be precise and well thought out with your marketing objectives. In this post, I will teach you how to use my four-stage marketing model, ACES, to establish your data driven marketing objectives. We’ll also look at how to use your objectives to guide your marketing strategy. And I’ll show you how you can track and measure your progress towards achieving your goals. Now let’s talk about how to set marketing targets that you can actually achieve. In general, data driven marketing objectives satisfy four criteria. They: - Account for how each stage of your marketing process impacts expected results - Align with your budget, team, tactics, and tools - Are connected to outcomes that your business finds valuable - Allow you to track progress and make adjustments based on initial results - How your marketing funnel will impact your objectives A marketing funnel is a way to picture the journey your audience takes on their way to (potentially) becoming your customer. In the AIDA model, your marketing message attempts to gain your audience’s attention. Then your prospective customer shows interest in your message or offer. That interest elevates to desire. And finally, if you’re successful, your audience takes action on your offer. The AIDA model is an excellent representation of the customer journey, but AIDA doesn’t always put your marketing into context. It’s also a 20th-century model that makes you fill in the blanks with your marketing targets, actions, tactics, and objectives. Without context or targets, AIDA is just another empty vessel. It’s time to take things to the 21st century with the ACES Framework. Hunting Driven Wild Boar in Germany

It’s a beautiful calm and still day in Wiesbaden, the western Germany state of Hesse. Ian takes up a high seat full of anticipation for the driven wild boar hunt. Although the surrounding forest is a little wet from a recent heavy shower, the grounds are beautiful. Ian is set up on a peg with a 360-degree view of the surrounding area. High seats are strategically located throughout the hunting area to give hunters the advantage of overlooking woodland clearings, feeding locations and well used game trails. After a great morning, which saw all the guns, organisers and volunteers gather for the briefing, Ian is excited and eager for the hunt to begin. The management of wild boar in this area helps protect the forests from crop damage and control wild boar numbers from overpopulation. Whilst the forest provides an attractive feeding opportunity for wild boar, it also creates other problems. In Germany, hunters are required to make reparations to farmers for crop damage sustained by the boar, paying a price per hectare for the sporting lease, plus additional ‘damages’ where appropriate. On this driven wild boar hunt, Ian is equipped with his trusty Sauer 404 in .308 and topped with a Hawke Endurance 1-4x24 scope. Following somewhat an uneventful morning and as the drive reaches the half way point, the beating team advance on Ian’s peg. Although, there has been some animal movement nearby, nothing suitable appeared to take a shot. Yet to see any signs of wild boar, Ian is encouraged by the sound of shots in the distance and ringing throughout the forest. After all, driven hunting requires patience and Ian remains optimistic. With daylight fading, the hunt comes to an end. Ian re-joins Frederic and his fellow hunters, as everyone gathers to discusses their experiences and pay their respect to the fallen game. Although Ian wasn’t successful, twenty wild boars, four roe does and a fox were harvested from the hunt. Driven hunt days like this require much preparation and planning.
