By the end of this video, you should have a deeper understanding of one of the languages Maya speaks under the hood, and how to start viewing your scenes in terms of glorious Python code! Chapter Descriptions: Why python? Learn why you, as an artist, should even concern yourself with learning a scripting language, and why Python is perfect for you! Sometimes problems need a solution that is far less time consuming than a manual fix. Sometimes just your transform/rotate/scale manipulators won't be there to help. Lets set up a small real world problem that, by the end of this video, should be a breeze to solve. The Basics Exploring the syntax of Python, an object-oriented language. We take a look at how to get started in playing around with the code, the terminology, and the tools that Python makes available to you. Object types, functions, loops... Lets start building up that toolbox! The Maya Script Editor This will be your home during your time as a Python Padawan. SFDUG Sept 2017 | Beginner's Guide to Python for Dynamo Users

01:13:46
Danny Bentley and Dennis Eldridge, SOM Design Technologists, introduced us to the Python programming language for Dynamo. Python is a versatile language that can be used to develop anything from a simple script to complete applications. This is a great language to get started learning programming, because the syntax is simpler and more intuitive than other languages. Dynamo has matured, and many users have started implementing Python in their Dynamo definitions. You can now find many samples of Dynamo scripts using Python online. With some knowledge of Python syntax you will be able to develop your own custom scripts. This presentation will introduce the basics of the Revit API used with Python. It will cover the syntax used by Python Nodes in Dynamo. We will have some basic demonstrations, and slowly walk through the code. You will begin to get an understanding of how Python is talking to both Revit and Dynamo. You don’t need to be a computer scientist or even a master Dynamo user. If you understand a bit of Dynamo and know Revit you should feel comfortable enough seeing the syntax. Danny Bentley is a Structural BIM Technical Designer and Drafter at Skidmore Owing and Merrill. With a background in Industrial Design and Computer Science. He is also a Youtuber with channels for Dynamo with Python and Revit API. At SOM he develops applications through Dynamo, Python and the C# to help facilitate workflow when dealing with complex geometry. Dennis Eldridge is a Digital Designer that is also works at Skidmore Owing and Merrill. He is a licensed architect, and has experience as a technical designer. At SOM he supports project teams in their use of digital tools, and helps develop firmwide standards. Additionally he develops tool in Javascript, Python, and C# to automate simple architectural tasks.

Python Programming - Day 22 "How To Code Like A Boss"

13:35
When do I use for loops? for loops are traditionally used when you have a block of code which you want to repeat a fixed number of times. The Python for statement iterates over the members of a sequence in order, executing the block each time. Contrast the for statement with the ''while'' loop, used when a condition needs to be checked each iteration, or to repeat a block of code forever. For example: For loop from 0 to 2, therefore running 3 times. for x in range(0, 3): print "We're on time %d" % (x) While loop from 1 to infinity, therefore running forever. x = 1 while True: print "To infinity and beyond! We're getting close, on %d now!" % (x) x += 1 As you can see, these loop constructs serve different purposes. The for loop runs for a fixed amount - in this case, 3, while the while loop runs until the loop condition changes; in this example, the condition is the boolean True which will never change, so it could theoretically run forever. You could use a for loop with a huge number in order to gain the same effect as a while loop, but what's the point of doing that when you have a construct that already exists? As the old saying goes, "why try to reinvent the wheel?". How do they work? If you've done any programming before, you have undoubtedly come across a for loop or an equivalent to it. Many languages have conditions in the syntax of their for loop, such as a relational expression to determine if the loop is done, and an increment expression to determine the next loop value. In Python this is controlled instead by generating the appropriate sequence. Basically, any object with an iterable method can be used in a for loop. Even strings, despite not having an iterable method - but we'll not get on to that here. Having an iterable method basically means that the data can be presented in list form, where there are multiple values in an orderly fashion. You can define your own iterables by creating an object with next() and iter() methods. This means that you'll rarely be dealing with raw numbers when it comes to for loops in Python - great for just about anyone! Nested loops When you have a block of code you want to run x number of times, then a block of code within that code which you want to run y number of times, you use what is known as a "nested loop". In Python, these are heavily used whenever someone has a list of lists - an iterable object within an iterable object. for x in xrange(1, 11): for y in xrange(1, 11): print '%d * %d = %d' % (x, y, x*y) Early exits Like the while loop, the for loop can be made to exit before the given object is finished. This is done using the break statement, which will immediately drop out of the loop and contine execution at the first statement after the block. You can also have an optional else clause, which will run should the for loop exit cleanly - that is, without breaking. for x in xrange(3): if x == 1: break Things to remember range vs xrange The ''range'' is seen so often in for statements that you might think range is part of the for syntax. It is not: it is a Python built-in function which returns a sequence, which meets the requirement of providing a sequence for the for statement to iterate over. In Python 2.x, range generates the entire sequence when called, while xrange is a generator - it produces values on demand, not all up fromt. You will often see xrange is used much more frequently than range. This is for one reason only - resource usage. For large sequences, the difference in memory usage can be considerable. xrange uses less memory, and should the for loop exit early, there's no need to waste time creating the unused numbers. This effect is tiny in smaller lists, but increases rapidly in larger lists as you can see in the examples below. For Python 3.x, range was changed, you can think of it as being equivalent to the Python 2.x xrange, which no longer is defined in Python 3.x.

Python Programming For Beginners - Orientation

08:36
Get The Full “Learn Python 🐍” Online Course: http://www.mnemonic.academy/learn-python The following video is from an online educational course that teaches the basics of Python programming using mnemonics, metaphors and the science of learning titled “Learn Python: Like a Bee Student” by instructor Dylan Jorgensen Welcome to our first orientation video and thank’s for your purchase. I am excited to engage with you, and remember you can D.M. me, post in Q&A boards or leave reviews and I will use that feedback to make this course better. Summary In this video we are going to get a high level overview of the unique learning methods the course was constructed around. Then I will end with a few recommendations to help you get the most out of your time. The Spacing Effect Learning is faster when the studying is spread out over time Cramming for 5 hours is not the same as 1 hour each day M-F Separating “What and Why” From “How” This course addresses all topics in two ways: first by having a no-code discussion explaining the “What and the Why”, Then code examples that demonstrate the “How” Right Brain “Why” Videos: Marked in Blue These videos are marked in blue and do not contain any code, but instead are entirely english discussions, stories and metaphors. These videos address the same programming topics as the left brain videos but are designed to stimulate your creativity, and help you build an intuition for the what and why of programming. Left Brain “How” Videos: Marked in Black The left brain “How” videos are marked in black and contain code examples that I will talk through then demonstrate. The important things you should be looking to take away from these videos are the procedures, syntax, and logic. Together, the goal of this overall structure is to prevent the right side of the brain from asking “What's the point?” and the left side of your braining saying “It’s too complicated” The Mnemonic Effect As humans we are wired to learn real life objects. But learning programming is not hands on or visual. One problem is that with beginners everything is conceptual. Unlike learning to become a mechanic in an auto shop there is not wrench to look at, nothing to touch or imagine holding. So we will use mnemonics to give that “real world” sense to the course. Mnemonic Concepts Each concept we discuss is connected to a physical object, you have likely interacted with in real life and can imagining seeing, feeling, and interacting with. These will be presented in the “What & Why” videos during our discussions. Try to use these objects in the real world to trigger the programming concepts. For example, every time you see a gas pump think about how the way it works in an analogy for function in programming. The Metaphor Effect I tried my best to tie each mnemonic to the metaphor that explains some kind of abstract similarity. Admittedly that kind of conversation will always be a work in progress so please post any metaphors or mnemonics you think of in the forums. Also, we will treat programming as whole as a giant metaphor to writing. It’s weird but even if we're not great writers, most people seem to have a sense for what a writer’s life is like. But the same is not true for programming. The Memory Palace The Memory Palace (also known as the palace of loci) is a time-honored technique for memorization. It works by imagining a place you know well and then putting the physical mnemonics we learned from the other chapter in your spacial memory. Memory Palace After the “What and Why” videos you will find bizarre stories that are all told in a single geographical location. The place I chose a fun location is Las Vegas where I also happen to live. The stories contain the mnemonic objects and hopefully will make it easy for you to walk through the space in mind and remember all of our topics. The Bizarreness Effect Bizarreness effect is the tendency of bizarre material to be better remembered than common material. The stories are purposely designed to make absurd leaps of logic, anthropomorphize objects and generally address bizarre and unrealistic situations. Let's Get Started! This belief effect will play out in a lot of way that you might not notice. So just take this time to remind yourself that you are capable, and there is nothing special about people who make a good living as programmers that you can’t achieve. EDX Top 3 Lessons in Python, Java, C++ to teach yourself programming Online Courses Review

04:56
We made a research on the EDX platform for you. Here are 3 very interesting courses to improve your knowledge in Python, Java and C++. All of them ideal for beginners. This is an independent review of some of the most popular MOOCs courses in EDX. A great place to start learning more programming languages. Do you want to learn Programming Languages in Udemy with our unique way (using animation, digital pen and actual programming)? You can use these Coupons to get the lowest price possible. PYTHON ($9.99) https://www.udemy.com/learn-programming-in-python-with-the-power-of-animation/?couponCode=YOUTUBE C++ ($9.99) https://www.udemy.com/learn-programming-in-cpp/?couponCode=YOUTUBE JAVA ($9.99) https://www.udemy.com/learn-programming-in-java/?couponCode=YOUTUBE BlogPost: http://www.philosophybehindcoding.com/edx-top-3-lessons-python-java-c-teach-programming-online-courses-review/ The links of the 3 free online courses on EDX First EDX course: https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computing-using-python-gtx-cs1301x Second EDX Course: https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-java-programming-part-1-hkustx-comp102-1x-3 Third EDX Course: https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-c-microsoft-dev210x-3 If you want to start programming from scratch or you want to learn a new programming language, this is the best place for you. Here we will analyze 3 very informative lessons-courses in EDX that will teach you Python, Java or C++. MOOCs is an incredible opportunity of our times, that give us structured and easy to follow lessons. It is a completely different experience from YouTube. In these lessons, you can take a coding subject or a programming language and learn it from start to finish. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that YouTube Videos are very important for programmers in order to fill small gaps in our knowledge or be informed about programming topics and algorithms. But MOOCs and in general online courses is a more structured approach. The first free online course I will review today is an “Introduction to Computing using Python”. The course consists of 16 weeks of lessons and every week you should work for about 10 hours. I think that this is a lot, and this is positive and negative. On the one hand you will learn a lot of things but on the other hand, you should commit to these lessons for a longer period of time. The second free online course title is: “Introduction to Java Programming”. The length of this course is 5 Weeks and 3-5 hours per week are required. So this is a much smaller course. However, I should mention that there is a part 1 and a part 2 in this course. The last free online course title I will review today is “Introduction to C++ by Microsoft”. This is the shortest of the three courses, with a duration of 4 Weeks and 3-5 hours of work per week required. The video form is the classic online course with the instructor teaching along with a presentation. In addition, I should mention that all 3 courses have programming assignments with auto-evaluation in order to give you a final grade and feedback about your coding skills. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last Video: https://goo.gl/CBYVk9 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Philosophy Behind Coding (PBC) is the perfect place for someone that now try to start a career as a programmer in general, or want to improve the algorithmic way of thinking Subscribe here ;) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKYJJA7nYEu6HfVwmje3YXQ/featured ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WebSite - Blog: www.PhilosophyBehindCoding.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Instagram: www.instagram.com/pb_coding/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/PB_Coding ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Business email: [email protected] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Outro Song: Electric Joy Ride - Origin [NCS Release] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iScT5IfgG-Q BackGround Song: http://www.bensound.com PBC ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Philosophy Behind Coding (PBC) Keep Coding Guys!

Python Programming Language | Sets and Set Operations | Frozensets | Lecture 8

12:18
Python Programming Language: Computer Application: Python Programming Language | Sets and Operations | Frozensets | Lecture 8 Review: - In the previous two videos we studied about Mutable & Immutable Objects and Tuples and compared it to List. - Mutable means the one which can be changed or the one which can be modified. - Examples of mutable objects in Python are List, Set & Dictionaries. - Immutable means the one which cannot be changed. - Example of Immutable object is Python are Integer, String, Boolean, Float, Tuple, Frozenset. - Tuples are instruction similar to List, but are Immutable. - Tuple are simpler than List but they need not be in parenthesis when creating. - We can change List into Tuple and Tuple into List. In this video we shall see about SETS and SET OPERATIONS: - A Set is a collection of unique elements. A collection of well-defined unique elements. - Operations are the various operations performed between different sets, such as Union, Intersection, etc. - Union of set between any two set is the new set with all the elements present in both the sets without repetition. - Intersection between any two sets is the common element between both the sets, or the elements present in both the sets. - Difference between two set is the set of elements present in the first set and not in the second set. - List of elements could be anything, written within a flower bracket or curly brackets. - Name of the set is always denoted by a capital letter. - Disjoint sets are two such sets which have no elements common between them. Various commands related to Sets in Python: Add, Discard, Clear, Pop, Update, Remove, Copy, Intersection, Union, Difference, intersection_update, Symmetric_difference, Subset, Superset, Disjoint, Difference_ update, Symmetric_difference_ update, When do we use sets in programming: What are the advantages of using sets in programming: When sequence of the elements or collection of elements where repetition of elements are not desired. For example a set that contains people’s name. Frozensets - Frozensets are objects like sets, but they are immutable. Various commands related to Frozensets in Python: Copy, Intersection, Union, Difference, Symmetric_difference, Subset, Superset, Disjoint Frozensets are important when we discuss dictionaries, which we will see in the nest video. Dictionaries have keys and values, Video by Edupedia World (www.edupediaworld.com), Free Online Education; Download our App : https://goo.gl/1b6LBg Click here https://goo.gl/HjNegN to watch more videos on Python Programming Language- Complete Tutorial; All Rights Reserved.

29:56
The ancient art of keeping secrets safe is nowadays one of the pillars of the internet. e-commerce, online banking, video conferences and a lot of other things are protected by encryption to become viable. Becoming fluent in basic cryptographic operations is a precious tool for any software developer. wolfcrypt is a Python library that encapsulates wolfSSL’s wolfCrypt API. wolfCrypt is a lightweight, portable, C-language-based crypto library targeted at IoT, embedded, and RTOS environments primarily because of its size, speed, and feature set. It works seamlessly in desktop, enterprise, and cloud environments as well. It is the crypto engine behind wolfSSl’s embedded ssl library. I will talk about classic and modern cryptography concepts a.k.a. cryptography 101 and use the wolfcrypt python module to put those concepts in practice to keep information safe. ------ Moisés Guimarães is a Brazilian pythonista who lives in João Pessoa, the capital of the state of Paraíba in Brazil, also the eastmost place of the Americas. Author of both wolfcrypt and wolfssl modules, CFFI wrappers for the wolfSSL crypto and SSL/TLS libraries. He works both as a software engineer at wolfSSL and as a professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Paraíba, graduated in Web Development with a specialization degree in Information Security.
