Python For Maya Artists - Volume 1

02:23:08
Project materials available here: https://github.com/justinfx/tutorials/tree/master/Python_For_Maya_Vol_01 Learn the basics of Python, and its place in your 3D workflow, with visual examples and real world problems. Amazing at Animation? Master of Modeling? Conquistador of Character Rigging? But how is your Python? This course brings the talented artist into the fold of the technical-side of Maya. Learn the basics of Python, and its place in your 3D workflow, with visual examples and real world problems. Get a kick-start on adding some automation into your life, and solving common problems in a fraction of the time. By the end of this video, you should have a deeper understanding of one of the languages Maya speaks under the hood, and how to start viewing your scenes in terms of glorious Python code! Chapter Descriptions: Why python? Learn why you, as an artist, should even concern yourself with learning a scripting language, and why Python is perfect for you! Sometimes problems need a solution that is far less time consuming than a manual fix. Sometimes just your transform/rotate/scale manipulators won't be there to help. Lets set up a small real world problem that, by the end of this video, should be a breeze to solve. The Basics Exploring the syntax of Python, an object-oriented language. We take a look at how to get started in playing around with the code, the terminology, and the tools that Python makes available to you. Object types, functions, loops... Lets start building up that toolbox! The Maya Script Editor This will be your home during your time as a Python Padawan. We check out all the features that have recently been added to Maya 2011, to make the python programming experience even more comfortable. Learn how to access all of the commands made available to you, and how to find help on the usage of each one. We will take what we learned in the previous chapter and start exploring visual examples of the code. By the end of this chapter, you will now how to turn individual lines of code into reusable functions. Development, Environment, and Workflow By now, you have seen the power that is at your finger tips. You know enough to start experimenting with new ideas. We will now find out how to configure Maya a little bit to make your code easier to re-use, and distribute. We also present some more areas to be investigated down the road, in your path to becoming a Maya scripting master. Bonus: Intro to Maya UI Writing python scripts and tools are great. But it would be a lot more fun if we could wrap them up into UI dialogs, and give the user some visual options. This bonus section takes a tool we wrote in a previous chapter, and throws together a simple popup dialog to visually expose the tool options. The code for this UI is included in the project for you to explore!

The Right Way to Learn Code | Brian Underwood, Max Ptacek & Ben Makarechian | TEDxYouth@SHC

06:58
Ben Makarechian, Brian Underwood, and Max Ptacek tell the story of their experiences trying to create a virtual reality dodgeball game with little knowledge of computer code. They share the methods they used to teach themselves coding so students around the world can learn on their own. Brian Underwood is currently an 8th grader at Hillbrook School. He has always had an interest in science, technology and coding, and has become even more interested with the releases of virtual reality headsets. In his TEDx Talk, he and his friends talk about empowering students through coding and what schools could do better to inspire kids to code. In his free time, Brian enjoys programming, water polo, and hanging out with his friends. Max Ptacek is an 8th grader at Hillbrook School in Los Gatos, California. He loves all things technological and mechanical, and he has always loved the concept of VR. His passion for video games led him to join his friends in creating their own game. In his talk, he and his friends will talk about empowering kids through code, how schools are teaching kids coding wrong, and how that can be fixed. He hopes he can inspire children and adults alike to try their hand at coding. Ben Makarechian is an 8th grade student at Hillbrook School in Los Gatos, California. For the last two years, his passions have been playing sports, exercising, and computer programming. In his talk with Brian Underwood and Max Ptacek, he describes how his own experiences with programming were enhanced by connecting it to his passions. He and his group also outline how they hope others can enjoy learning to code by connecting projects to an existing passion. Steganography Tutorial - Hide Messages In Images

10:29
Steganography is the hiding of a secret message within an ordinary message and the extraction of it at its destination. Steganography takes cryptography a step further by hiding an encrypted message so that no one suspects it exists. Ideally, anyone scanning your data will fail to know it contains encrypted data. Cryptography or cryptology is the practice and study of techniques for secure communication in the presence of third parties called adversaries. More generally, cryptography is about constructing and analyzing protocols that prevent third parties or the public from reading private messages; various aspects in information security such as data confidentiality, data integrity, authentication, and non-repudiationare central to modern cryptography. Modern cryptography exists at the intersection of the disciplines of mathematics, computer science, and electrical engineering. Applications of cryptography include military communications, electronic commerce, ATM cards, and computer passwords. SFDUG Sept 2017 | Beginner's Guide to Python for Dynamo Users

01:13:46
Danny Bentley and Dennis Eldridge, SOM Design Technologists, introduced us to the Python programming language for Dynamo. Python is a versatile language that can be used to develop anything from a simple script to complete applications. This is a great language to get started learning programming, because the syntax is simpler and more intuitive than other languages. Dynamo has matured, and many users have started implementing Python in their Dynamo definitions. You can now find many samples of Dynamo scripts using Python online. With some knowledge of Python syntax you will be able to develop your own custom scripts. This presentation will introduce the basics of the Revit API used with Python. It will cover the syntax used by Python Nodes in Dynamo. We will have some basic demonstrations, and slowly walk through the code. You will begin to get an understanding of how Python is talking to both Revit and Dynamo. You don’t need to be a computer scientist or even a master Dynamo user. If you understand a bit of Dynamo and know Revit you should feel comfortable enough seeing the syntax. Danny Bentley is a Structural BIM Technical Designer and Drafter at Skidmore Owing and Merrill. With a background in Industrial Design and Computer Science. He is also a Youtuber with channels for Dynamo with Python and Revit API. At SOM he develops applications through Dynamo, Python and the C# to help facilitate workflow when dealing with complex geometry. Dennis Eldridge is a Digital Designer that is also works at Skidmore Owing and Merrill. He is a licensed architect, and has experience as a technical designer. At SOM he supports project teams in their use of digital tools, and helps develop firmwide standards. Additionally he develops tool in Javascript, Python, and C# to automate simple architectural tasks.

Python's New secrets Module - Nat Geo Wild

58:09
Vengeance of Giant Python. Florida’s Everglades National Park is one of the last great wildlife refuges in the U.S., home to numerous endangered animals and plants, as well as alligators. But the park has become a dumping ground for a variety of non-native species, including what may be tens of thousands of Burmese pythons. Some were intentionally released by pet owners, others were set free when hurricanes hit Florida’s animal warehouses. Pythons have moved into their new home with a vengeance, thriving in the protected wilderness and disrupting its delicate ecosystem. Follow scientists and snake hunters as they study the problem and try to find solutions to the growing crisis.)

EDX Top 3 Lessons in Python, Java, C++ to teach yourself programming Online Courses Review

We made a research on the EDX platform for you. Here are 3 very interesting courses to improve your knowledge in Python, Java and C++. All of them ideal for beginners. This is an independent review of some of the most popular MOOCs courses in EDX. A great place to start learning more programming languages. Here we will analyze 3 very informative lessons-courses in EDX that will teach you Python, Java or C++. MOOCs is an incredible opportunity of our times, that give us structured and easy to follow lessons. It is a completely different experience from YouTube. In these lessons, you can take a coding subject or a programming language and learn it from start to finish. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that YouTube Videos are very important for programmers in order to fill small gaps in our knowledge or be informed about programming topics and algorithms. But MOOCs and in general online courses is a more structured approach. The first free online course I will review today is an “Introduction to Computing using Python”. The course consists of 16 weeks of lessons and every week you should work for about 10 hours. I think that this is a lot, and this is positive and negative. On the one hand you will learn a lot of things but on the other hand, you should commit to these lessons for a longer period of time. The second free online course title is: “Introduction to Java Programming”. The length of this course is 5 Weeks and 3-5 hours per week are required. So this is a much smaller course. However, I should mention that there is a part 1 and a part 2 in this course. The last free online course title I will review today is “Introduction to C++ by Microsoft”. This is the shortest of the three courses, with a duration of 4 Weeks and 3-5 hours of work per week required. The video form is the classic online course with the instructor teaching along with a presentation. In addition, I should mention that all 3 courses have programming assignments with auto-evaluation in order to give you a final grade and feedback about your coding skills. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last Video: https://goo.gl/CBYVk9 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Philosophy Behind Coding (PBC) is the perfect place for someone that now try to start a career as a programmer in general, or want to improve the algorithmic way of thinking Subscribe here ;) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKYJJA7nYEu6HfVwmje3YXQ/featured ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WebSite - Blog: www.PhilosophyBehindCoding.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Instagram: www.instagram.com/pb_coding/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/PB_Coding ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Business email: [email protected] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Outro Song: Electric Joy Ride - Origin [NCS Release] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iScT5IfgG-Q BackGround Song: http://www.bensound.com PBC ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Philosophy Behind Coding (PBC) Keep Coding Guys!

Python Programming Language | Sets and Set Operations | Frozensets | Lecture 8

12:18
Python Programming Language: Computer Application: Python Programming Language | Sets and Operations | Frozensets | Lecture 8 Review: - In the previous two videos we studied about Mutable & Immutable Objects and Tuples and compared it to List. - Mutable means the one which can be changed or the one which can be modified. - Examples of mutable objects in Python are List, Set & Dictionaries. - Immutable means the one which cannot be changed. - Example of Immutable object is Python are Integer, String, Boolean, Float, Tuple, Frozenset. - Tuples are instruction similar to List, but are Immutable. - Tuple are simpler than List but they need not be in parenthesis when creating. - We can change List into Tuple and Tuple into List. In this video we shall see about SETS and SET OPERATIONS: - A Set is a collection of unique elements. A collection of well-defined unique elements. - Operations are the various operations performed between different sets, such as Union, Intersection, etc. - Union of set between any two set is the new set with all the elements present in both the sets without repetition. - Intersection between any two sets is the common element between both the sets, or the elements present in both the sets. - Difference between two set is the set of elements present in the first set and not in the second set. - List of elements could be anything, written within a flower bracket or curly brackets. - Name of the set is always denoted by a capital letter. - Disjoint sets are two such sets which have no elements common between them. Various commands related to Sets in Python: Add, Discard, Clear, Pop, Update, Remove, Copy, Intersection, Union, Difference, intersection_update, Symmetric_difference, Subset, Superset, Disjoint, Difference_ update, Symmetric_difference_ update, When do we use sets in programming: What are the advantages of using sets in programming: When sequence of the elements or collection of elements where repetition of elements are not desired. For example a set that contains people’s name. Frozensets - Frozensets are objects like sets, but they are immutable. Various commands related to Frozensets in Python: Copy, Intersection, Union, Difference, Symmetric_difference, Subset, Superset, Disjoint Frozensets are important when we discuss dictionaries, which we will see in the nest video. Should I Open-Source My Python App?

07:49
https://dbader.org/python-tricks ► Improve Your Python Skills, Bit by Bit Should you release your commercial Python app as open-source on GitHub? This is the question I got from YouTube commenter Ruben: "What if I plan on selling my Python desktop GUI app, should I worry about creating more competition for myself if I put the code on GitHub?" In this video I'll share my thoughts on the matter. In short, I think you should be careful about open-sourcing a commercial project. If you plan on selling this app it can be a dangerous move to make the source code to your application available as open-source. Of course there are successful open-source business models (just look to the Linux world, Red Hat etc.) but if you plan on selling a standalone GUI app and can't make money from support contracts and other revenue streams I don't think releasing the code as open-source is a good idea. Watch the video to hear why. What do you think? Should Ruben make his Python app open-source or is he better off keeping it closed-source for now?
