Port of Mongla (Mongla, Bangladesh)

03:06
It was formerly located at Chalna, about 11 miles (18 km) upstream on the Pusur River, but it is now located 48 km south of Khulna city, as established on 11 December 1954. The Port is surrounded as well as well protected by the Sundarban mangrove forest. The port is situated at the confluence of the Pashur River and the Mongla River. It lies about 62 miles (100 km) north of the Bay of Bengal and is connected to the major inland river ports and to the rail terminal at Khulna. It is very near to Sundarbans. Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) and Haldia in India and Mongla and Chittagong in Bangladesh are the principal seaports on the world's largest Ganges delta. The port has trade links with almost all major ports of the world, although vessels arriving here are mostly from ports of Asia, the Middle East, Australia, Europe and North America and the ships rarely come to Mongla from the countries of Latin America or Africa

In A Beautiful Morning- Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh (The Longest Sea Beach In The World)

06:27
Cox’s Bazar is the pride and joy for all Bangladeshi, Cox’s Bazar is lauded throughout the land as if it’s a contender for one of the natural wonders of the world. It is the longest continual natural beach on the planet (125km), but a world wonder it isn’t. In fact, it’s not even the nicest beach in Bangladesh (the beaches on nearby St Martin’s Island and at Kuakata in Barisal division are far more scenic). However, Cox’s Bazar is the most developed of any holiday destination in Bangladesh and as such you’ll find tourist facilities that are better than anywhere outside Dhaka. Your travels in Cox'es Bazaar are getting the better of you and you just fancy some home comforts and a bit of fresh air, consider swinging by for a couple of days. Cox's Bazar/ Cox's Bazaar (কক্সবাজার) is a town, a fishing port and district headquarters in Bangladesh. It is one of the world's longest uninterrupted natural sandy sea beaches. The beach in Cox's Bazar is an unbroken 125 km sandy sea beach with a gentle slope. It is located 150 km south of the industrial port Chittagong. Cox’s Bazar is also known by the name Panowa, whose literal translation means "yellow flower." Its other old name was "Palongkee". The modern Cox's Bazar derives its name from Captain Hiram Cox (died 1799), an officer serving in British India. An officer of the British East India Company, Captain Cox was appointed Superintendent of Palongkee outpost after Warren Hastings became Governor of Bengal. Captain Cox was specially mobilized to deal with a century-long conflict between Arakan refugees and local Rakhains. He embarked upon the mammoth task of rehabilitating refugees in the area and made significant progress. A premature death took Captain Cox in 1799 before he could finish his work. To commemorate his role in rehabilitation work, a market was established and named Cox's Bazar ("Cox's Market") after him. Cox's Bazar is one of the most-visited tourist destinations in Bangladesh. Recently a lot of good quality resorts and residential hotels are developed for the foreign tourists. In 2013, the Bangladesh Government formed the Tourist Police unit to better protect local and foreign tourists, as well as to look after the nature and wildlife in the tourist spots of Cox's Bazar. 1. Scrapped: the deadly business of dismantling ships in Bangladesh

26:14
Bangladesh has no metal resources of its own city, so the shipbreaking yards in Chittagong, its largest second city, generate high profits for their owners. Workers though, enjoy none of the benefits of that profit; wages are barely enough to live on and there are no health and safety regulations to protect them. Injuries are a frequent occurrence and even death is not uncommon. Ishaq Paracha, Managing Director of Gaddani's ship breaking yard: "We have made many technical advances. We can break a very large ship in about 3 to 4 months time. Wide of plane flying over wreck of oil tanker 'Tasman Spirit' 25. Long shot 'Tasman Spirit' tanker 26. Wide of oil spill clean up operation continuing on beach 27. Mid shot oil spill clean up workers STORYLINE: Pakistan's ship-breaking industry has received a massive boost thanks to the arrival of world's second biggest oil tanker at a breakers yard close to the southern port city of Karachi. This breakers yard on the Gaddani coastline, 40km (25 miles), east of Karachi, is the final resting place for the juggernaut supertanker 'The Sea Giant'. Its massive capacity, 555,000 Dwt (deadweight tons), made it the second biggest oil tanker on earth. The huge task of dismantling the French-built 'Sea Giant' is expected to revitalize Pakistan's ship-breaking industry and create more jobs. The industry on the edge of this sleepy town on the Arabian sea has been struggling to revive itself from a bearish spell in business. During the 1990s the Gaddani industry broke 40 ships in a year, but business has dwindled to just over a dozen ships a year now. The arrival of the gigantic supertanker, which used to carry half-a-million-tons of crude to the U.S. from Saudi Arabia, is just break the industry was looking for. M. Ishaq Paracha, Managing Director of Gaddani's ship breaking yard said that the recent "demand of steel has picked up in the country and business is very good." The arrival of the giant ship comes only weeks after Pakistan suffered its worst environmental disaster when an oil tanker 'Tasman Spirit' spilled thousands of tons of crude on the sea-shores near the Karachi port. The government is seeking 1 (b) billion US dollars in damages for the oil pollution caused from that disaster. Somalia - UN Bangladeshi Peacekeepers Evacuate

01:43
T/I: 10:22:41 STORY: TROOPS LOCATION: SOMALIA DATE: 28 FEBRUARY 1995 DURATION: 1.43 Evacuation of Bangladeshi UN peacekeepers American and Italian marines took up positions at Mogadishu's airfield and sea port on Tuesday (28/2) after amphibious landings as the mission to evacuate UN peacekeepers from Somalia got underway. As soon as the marines consolidated their positions around the port, 900 Bangladeshi soldiers boarded a ship ready to leave the dockside. Some 1,500 Pakistani troops in tanks and armoured vehicles remained, parked with their big guns pointing into the streets around the airfield. They will begin pulling back through American and Italian lines on Wednesday and depart early on Thursday, also aboard ferries for Dar Es Salaam, in Tanzania. The US commander Lieutenant General Anthony Zinni, who took tactical control of the entire operation from UN commander Aboo Samah, on Tuesday morning said the withdrawal from the anarchic country was going well. Somalia has been without a functional government since former dictator Mohamed Siad Barre was overthrown in January 1992. And the country's warring clans are preparing to battle for the city's spoils - the air and sea ports - once the UN withdrawal is complete. SHOWS: (MOGADISHU, SOMALIA 28/2) Night shots of ship. Chittagong Sea Beach, Bangladesh

03:29
Chittagong is the second-largest city and main seaport of Bangladesh. It is located in the southeastern region of the country, at the mouth of the Karnaphuli River, straddling hilly terrain and facing the Bay of Bengal. Chittagong is the romanized name of the city. The city has various recorded Bengali names, including Chattagram, Chattagaon, Chattala, Chativavo, Chaityabhumi and Chatgaon. To the Arabs, who had frequented the port for centuries, it was long known as Shetgang, a term that evolved from the Arabic words Shatt (delta) and Ganga (Ganges). Ma Huan, a Chinese treasure voyager in the 14th century, transliterated it into Mandarin as Cheh-ti-gan. Many scholars contend that Chittagong is the legendary city of Bengala, that was written in European chronicles during the Age of Discovery. The Arakanese refer to the city with the phrase tsi tsi gong, which means "the war that should never be fought". According to legend, an invading Arakanese king refrained from attacking the city after he was impressed by its nature.

Cox's Bazar (Bengali: কক্সবাজার Kaksbājār) is a town, a fishing port and district headquarters in Bangladesh. It is located 150 km south of the industrial port Chittagong. Cox's Bazar is also known by the name Panowa, whose literal translation means "yellow flower." Its other old name was "Palongkee". The modern Cox's Bazar derives its name from Captain Hiram Cox (died 1799), an officer serving in British India. An officer of the British East India Company, Captain Cox was appointed Superintendent of Palongkee outpost after Warren Hastings became Governor of Bengal. Captain Cox was specially mobilised to deal with a century-long conflict between Arakan refugees and local Rakhains. He embarked upon the mammoth task of rehabilitating refugees in the area and made significant progress. A premature death took Captain Cox in 1799 before he could finish his work. To commemorate his role in rehabilitation work, a market was established and named Cox's Bazar ("Cox's Market") after him. Today, Cox's Bazar is one of the most-visited tourist destinations in Bangladesh. It has yet to become a major international tourist destination, and has no international hotel chains, due to lack of publicity and transportation. In 2013, the Bangladesh Government formed the Tourist Police unit to better protect local and foreign tourists, as well as to look after the nature and wildlife in the tourist spots of Cox's Bazar. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Sneak in the field" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1ZcTa5h_CU -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Somalia/Mogadishu International Port

Our Albayrak Group commenced its activities with the construction sector in 1996, executed projects only within the construction sector until 1982 and in that year entered the personnel transportation sector. The Albayrak group, which achieved an expansion parallel to the growth of the national economy, had sustained Turkey with the group’s investments in new sectors. With over 20 corporations, the Albayrak Group is constantly growing and continuing its operations in 6 different sectors; construction, real estate investment, industry, logistics, service, news media and tourism. The Albayrak Group, which had arrived at this point by giving over 5000 people a job opportunity, is looking at the future of Turkey with an unshakeable trust. Our group had entered the logistics sector with the personnel transportation in 1982, and became the leader of the sector within four years. Following the takeover of the management of the Trabzon Port in 2003, the Albayrak Group has made crucial contributions to the regional and national economy. A short while after this takeover, the handling capacity of the port had been raised from 3.9 million tons to 5 million tons through new investments and modernization studies. In the same manner, the Trabzon Port had reached 1,537,000 tons, in terms of handled material, and grabbed a slice of history with a 500% increase in container traffic. The Trabzon Port, which possesses a 1252-meter dock length, is providing continuous service in operations like; a 3-million-ton storage, a roll-on/roll-off access with 2000 vessel acceptance and a 250,000-passenger capacity, pouring, the port guidance of cargo and open transit materials, port location and clearance operations. The Albayrak Group is aiming to turn the Trabzon Port into the biggest port of the Black Sea Region with short and mid-term investments. The Albayrak Group continue to make its investments in the port sector that has an important position in the logistics field by means of taking over the 20-year-long management rights of the Mogadishu Port in Somali, which is the brother country of and has an important place for Turkey. With this new venture, the Albayrak Group is glad to acquire one of the ports in Eastern Africa, which carries great strategic importance, on 21 September 2014 with an agreement in the form of taking a share from 45% of the port’s revenue and giving the 55% share to the Somali government. In order to bring the port up to world standards, along with the equipment investments made for the port, before the takeover, and the placing of the Turkish management personnel that are experts in their related subjects, short and mid-term investments are also being planned. The port also became a new income source for the Somali citizens, in terms of new personnel being included in the working team. Our group, which is aiming for non-negligible developments in the development of the Somali economy that already has crucial resources, will be making an effort in installing new lines to the port, which will be serving vital international customers like MSC, SIMA TECH, CMA-CGM, and especially will be using its own past experiences in order to turn the port into a transit one.
