Better product definition with Lean UX and Design Thinking by Jeff Gothelf, Lean IT Summit 2014

36:13
Requirements-driven product definition is a sure-fire way to get 100% of the wrong product launched. The assumptions that requirements are based on are usually not accurate enough to determine the exact solution those requirements dictate. Instead, teams should focus on creating a series of hypotheses that define potential solutions to their business problem and then work together to learn which of these hypotheses are keepers and which ideas to kill. In this talk at the Lean IT Summit 2014, Jeff provides an overview of how to apply the ideas behind Lean UX and Design Thinking to project definition and planning. Why do you need a consumer-driven supply chain? Today's consumers want the right price, the best quality, and they want it now! What does that mean for your business? Your business success - or failure - eventually depends on whether your end-consumers are satisfied. All businesses exist to eventually serve an end-consumer. Shouldn't your company be doing all of the right things to ensure success -- and the consumer's satisfaction? But few businesses are actually driven by what consumers actually want... ► Subscribe to our channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq1YT1kWKED0wsVdluDi3JA?sub_confirmation=1 Follow us online here: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/15575/ Website: http://www.onenetwork.com/ Blog: http://supplychainbeyond.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OneNetworkEnterprises/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/onenetwork

The Quest of the self-running Solid State driven Power Generator

04:56
Website link: https://www.vorticesdynamics.org.uk Hello everybody, I like to give you an update of the next major project I work on. We will look into solid state driven coil systems and arrays. Analyze power consumption versus power generation. Identify parameters for scalability and highlight designs which are not efficient. I reference here to some technologies, known to some. Example is Steven Marks “TPU”, John Bedini solid state battery charger. Richard Willis, “Magnacoaster” energy systems and battery charger. In the first phase I analyze the performance of the so called Isolation transformer I present here. Each coil will be driven via an amplifier module. We compare the single module energy delta versus the multiple module deltas. John Bedini is using it and I will highlight the pros and cons using such a coil. I move then on to build and use high frequency transformer to convert the excess energy we capture into usable energy. You have seen some videos in the past where I demonstrated such a transformer to convert the power output from a Tesla Coil. The materials of these cores I use are highly specialized and not available for the mainstream audience. They are in use for highly efficiency power transformer stations between power plants or in use for high power laser application or in CT scanners. I will offer my members to purchase such cores via my website. Benchmarks will be created using different core materials and provide the delta between power input and output. The energy level used is a combination of high frequency and high voltage sine and pulse wave. I have here as an example one core which is based on Nanocrystalline Cores or the branding named Nanoperm®. I used them already in my motor applications for Steorn and the Bedindi SSG systems and demonstrated the superior quality compared to any other core material available on the market. This core will be complemented with amorphous metal alloys which yield virtually no losses due to eddy current, hysteresis or load. The product definition is Metglas. For driving the amplifier modules we move on to use the Arduino mega 2560 controller. I will dedicate a larger section to this circuit. This was first shown in stages with the Quadratron amplifier from Tantratron. I will drive a load from the charging battery and demonstrate if it is feasible to do that with less energy required to drive the load compared to the load power consumption. We will then focus on system arrays where we enter into the realm of nature as the architect. I like to remind you on my series I produced of the asynchronous power distribution or the Golden Mean (Ratio) and the Fibonacci sequence. By following these building plans we optimize the energy flow the way it is meant to be by nature. Please support my efforts to provide you with all the test results and information to build your own energy devise by becoming a member. Please read the FAQ section under About and simply click on the subscribe button to the membership level you desire. The next video will provide you with the multifilar isolation transformer coil performance. www.vorticesdynamics.com

Webinar: Empowering Product Managers To Drive Sales with Contondo

57:21
Product Managers and Product Marketing Managers depend on sales enablement tools to ensure that sales teams have the right training and messages to make the most of their product opportunities. However, when introducing new products or features to market, sales enablement often fails - resulting in an under-performing product launch or sluggish product. Product managers and product marketing managers often confront an inability to build necessary confidence to overcome the sales team's reluctance to sell the new product, steep competition that annihilates the first attempts to create a market segment, difficulty translating successful tactics and scaling approaches from one sales team to many. Overcoming these challenges has a lot to do with what PMs and PMMs choose to do at the early stages of product introduction. In this webcast you will learn: 1. How to uncover unproven assumptions that can poison motivation when going to market 2. How to deal with uncertainties within the sales force 3. How to overcome sales aversion to selling the new features and products 4. How to deal with lack of competitive information and references Download whitepaper: startupproduct.com/contondo Who should attend: Product Managers, Product Marketing Managers and anyone who owns product P&L This event is the first Fridays with Cindy Webinar brought to you by the AIPMM, curated and moderated by Cindy F. Solomon, Host, Global Product Management Talk. Today's event is sponsored by Contondo.com About the speakers: Contondo Co-Founders Assaf Litai A seasoned entrepreneur, Assaf has over 20 years experience defining, developing and selling various B2B products to mid and large scale enterprises globally. His previous company, PortAuthority, was acquired by Websense, where Assaf served as vice president of Strategic Accounts. Aviv Ben Zeev Aviv Ben Zeev has over 15 years' experience at large, global, high-tech companies in roles including engineering, sales and sales-management. Before co-founding Contondo, Aviv was Vice President of Sales, Europe at Orckit. About Contondo Contondo was founded by a team of product managers and sales executives who realized that many of their products failures could have been avoided. Product launch failure is a slippery slope -- even a well-designed product that was an easy sell to the first reference customer may get to be ignored by sales teams in a vicious cycle until everyone assumes "it is a bad product". At Contondo we believe this can be largely avoided for most, well thought out, products. At Contondo we help Product Managers and Product Marketing Managers create initial momentum for their products by providing an improved, more immediate access to the field teams selling the products. @ContondoMedia www.contondo.com Cindy F. Growth hacking APIs What role do APIs play in your growth strategy

19:37
Vanessa Meyer - Context.io - 21/10/2014 There’s been lots of buzz in the tech startup space about “growth hacking” – what is it? how is it related to development? how is it related to marketing? At it’s core, growth hacking is about finding a strategy for growth within the parameters of scalability and replicability, driven by product and inspired by data. Growth hacking’s core is based in marketing but driven by product. Once the definition is clear, the question then becomes: without a UI to lean on, how does one “growth hack” an API? At last year’s Nordic API conference, Guillaume Balas from 3Scale presented several typologies of an API, namely API is the product, API projects the product, API promotes the product, and API powers the product. This presentation will elaborate on and reframe those typologies in the context of marketing and growth hacking of an API. We will examine the circumstances where an API is actually a growth hack in of itself, and where it is in need of growth hacking in order to make the business model behind it succeed. The presentation will use core concepts of strategic marketing – such as positioning, pricing, targeting, promotion, product and distribution – to create a framework for either growth hacking an API or developing an API as a key tactic in a growth strategy. The presentation was recorded at the 2014 Platform Summit in Stockholm, Nordic APIs second annual conference. Find out more at http://nordicapis.com/

Customer strategy

23:10
The customer strategy is a tool to help people know what is expected of them when it comes to creating great customer experiences. It is a document that sets a clear direction for how to work with customer experiences in all departments of the organization. With a customer strategy you have a tool that guides people to focus on the right customers with the right value proposition at the right time, no matter in which department they are located. It is a reason to involve people to work with what the strategy means for their particular team and what they can personally do to meet the customer strategy. The customer strategy is the roadmap to create great customer experiences.

Lean Analytics: making products better

06:52
Analytics data provides a measurable way of looking at how a product is being used. According to Alistair Croll, analyst and co-author of Lean Analytics, the ever-increasing abundancy of data, combined with the relative ease of analysing that data, is "bringing analytics to the forefront". For Croll, the way we use analytics (or, metrics) needs streamlining in order to make the most of data. “We live in a world where we are inundated with information and the ability to make sense of that information is a survival skill in the 21st century.” – Alistair Croll, analyst and author Given the abundancy of statistics in the digital age, Croll stresses how we should only concentrate on the most relevant data. As the BBC's Amanda Dahl, delivery manager for myBBC, explains, it can be appealing to focus on the amount of hits your site receives but it is much more useful to know why users are visiting or what would improve their engagement; "It's very tempting to tout your vanity metrics... But it doesn't really help us with figuring out what our next iteration will be." An iterative approach is at the heart of Lean Analytics. This means firstly deciding on the "one metric that matters", as Croll puts it. This is the single metric that most needs improving in order to ensure a product's success. Once this is decided, a hypothesis can be made about how to improve that metric and an experiment set up to test it out. Then you measure the results, see whether you achieved what you set out to do, and this cycle can be repeated. “We do small iterative releases of new tweaks to the product and tiny changes.” – Jessica Siegel, digital analytics, BBC iPlayer "Our whole approach to analytics is that build, measure, learn cycle," Adam Bailin, digital analytics manager, BBC, explains, "particularly with products like iPlayer and iWonder where the analytics has been thought about at the very outset.” The key, according to Croll, is to pick metrics that when measured will change your behaviour. Jessica Siegel, responsible for digital analytics for BBC iPlayer, describes how the product team are able to make small tweaks and use analytics to review whether users’ engagement improves. “What makes it Lean is you use a little bit of data to inform your decision; you try something out. And in trying that out, you gain more data.” The future, according to Dahl, lies in using specifically tailored data to improve the most important metric for each BBC online product. Cait O’Riordan, VP of product at Shazam, stresses the need to be constantly on top of analytics, measuring data over time and identifying trends. “It’s something that you have to really live and breathe," she explains, "but actually the data is so exciting.” http://bit.ly/CoT_Analytics

Laszlo Bock on how Google is changing the nature of work

20:11
Learn more about Google's data-driven HR at rework.withgoogle.com Laszlo Bock, Senior Vice President of People Operations at Google, kicked off Google’s first-ever re:Work event by talking about the potential to make work better for people everywhere. This is a huge opportunity because we spend more time at work than we do anything else in our lifetime. What if we could improve the experience of work, even just a little, for everyone? Bock offered a glimpse into Google’s own approach. People often think working at Google is about bean bags, free food, and lava lamps, but it’s really about having a mission that matters – doing work that is meaningful and connected to something bigger. Google starts with the belief that people are good and will do the right thing. From there, it’s easy to give employees freedom, access to information, and autonomy, which allows them to go out and create amazing things. Just as Google’s product development is driven by user feedback and data, Google’s HR policies are informed by feedback and data. Google uses science, collects data, and runs experiments internally to determine how best to make employees as happy, healthy, and productive as possible. From dissecting the attributes that make a great manager to nudging employees to take advantage of the company’s 401(k) matching, Google uses robust, academic-quality analytics to drive HR decisions.

Technicaly Driven

02:30
Technology is at the core of KDG's vision. The role of technology from a sales perspective is vital to us. We're not in the commodity arena where we're selling spec chemicals. We're selling solutions to problems; we're selling specialty chemicals. In keeping with the vision and mission of KDG of adding value to the network, we're the only special chemical distributor in North America with five location labs. We have two in the construction space, one in Los Angeles at our PT Hutchins facility, one in Atlanta for the Southeast construction market, we have a coatings lab in Louisville, Kentucky, we have a graphic arts and printing ink lab in Wisconsin, and a plastics lab at our Monson's site in Massachusetts. The benefit of those labs to our customers and our suppliers is real. I think we set the trend actually years ago when we started these labs. We do a lot of formulation work for our customers, we do a lot of benchmarking for our suppliers and these labs and without these labs we would not be able to help a customer base to the extent that we do. They need a product to actually act a certain way, they need a performance advantage to a certain product and for us to gain that advantage and show them data we need application work in lab data from our laboratories. We measure success at KDG and our technical strategy by the rate of adoption of our chemistry in our products to our customer base in the amount of interaction we had with our suppliers, which is pretty significant. So what we do is we call on the chemists, the R&D bench chemists, and marketing folks not just purchasing folks, and we help formulate products with our suppliers products in them at our small customer base. These are small customers who really can't get access to the producer's labs, so they utilize our labs for technical assistance, and it really does create a stronger bond and relationship with our customer base. Our technical sales representatives technical background and expertise in their specific market enables us to take the technology from our suppliers, bring it to our customer base and create a win-win for both sides. We give our suppliers full transparency to all our application information. We give our suppliers full transparency to the market indices and we're truly an extension of the direct selling effort. And that's the power of the KDG network. Put the KDG advantage to work for you!

The Equilibrium Constant

06:15
065 - The Equilibrium Constant In this video Paul Andersen defines the equilibrium constant (K) and explains how it can be calculated in various reversible reactions. The equilibrium constant is a ratio of the concentration of the products to the concentration of the reactants. If the K value is less than one the reaction will move to the left and if the K value is greater than one the reaction will move to the right. Do you speak another language? For more information on Arista's Software Driven Cloud Networking solution, visit http://www.arista.com/en/products/software-driven-cloud-networking Achieve new levels of automation and orchestration by integrating across the IT stack. This is real software defined networking. A production example of this is Arista and VMware enabling network virtualization. The entire flow is hands free and software defined. Looking at a 4-way ECMP Spine, a new leaf switch comes online without intervention once it is racked and plugged in. ZTPServer automates the leaf switch provisioning. Automate deployed configuration enables - Automated discovery of VMware and OpenStack virtual machines - Auto-provisioning of VLANS via Arista VM Tracer for vSphere and OpenStack - Auto-binding of VLAN to VXLAN in the top of rack switch acting as a virtual tunnel end-point - Auto deployment of the inter-VXLAN routing default gateway based on the configuration of the virtualization controller - Inter-VXLAN routing from one VNI to another - Intelligent first-hop routing with no "tromboning" of traffic - Elimination of IP Multicast for flooding of broadcast, unknown and multicast traffic - Automated learning of each MAC to VXLAN Virtual Tunnel End Point binding With leaf switch auto-configured in minutes, the IT administrator can connect in as many servers as the switch has 1 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports.

CADILLAC ATS Coupe (2015)

00:19
Cadillac introduced the all-new 2015 ATS Coupe, a quicker and more personal addition to the award-winning ATS product line. Designed to be lighter, more agile and more engaging than its competitors, it extends Cadillac's product-driven growth and the brand's tradition of dynamic luxury Coupes. Cadillac's first-ever compact luxury Coupe goes on sale this summer, offering drivers the choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the power from a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder or a 3.6L six-cylinder. In all combinations, Cadillac ATS Coupe takes advantage of its lightweight and strong structure to deliver exhilarating performance with efficiency, with a segment-leading power-to-weight ratio. "The 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe is a natural step in the brand's progression, and another fun-to-drive and technologically advanced product for a new generation of drivers extending our target groups," said Uwe Ellinghaus, chief marketing officer, Global Cadillac. "It is an exclusively distinctive American alternative, unique in its class, yet delivering a sporty and sophisticated driving experience rivaling the world's best." Like the sedan, the ATS Coupe's driving dynamics are rooted in mass efficiency, which helps make it one of Cadillac's lightest and most agile models ever - and the lightest car in the compact luxury Coupe segment. The 2.0L Turbo engine is upgraded from the current ATS sport sedan to deliver nearly 14 percent more torque, taking it to 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). This gives the standard ATS Coupe an advantage in power and weight over similarly equipped Coupes such as the BMW 428i. 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe Greater torque means greater pulling power, for a greater feeling of responsiveness at low speeds, and helps the Cadillac ATS Coupe achieve an estimated 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds. "More power with less weight is always a better combination for performance, and the ATS Coupe offers one of the best power-to-weight ratios in the segment, making it feel lighter, more direct and responsive," said David Leone, Cadillac executive chief engineer. "Engineers vetted the ATS's performance on the track, and the Coupe benefits from that exhaustive validation - all matched with Cadillac's trademark refinement." Elements that contribute to the Cadillac ATS Coupe's balanced performance and responsive characteristics include: • Nearly perfect 50/50 weight balance and low center of gravity • Five-link independent rear suspension featuring lightweight, high-strength steel and efficient straight link designs • A multi-link double-pivot MacPherson-strut front suspension with direct-acting stabilizer bar • Underbody aerodynamic shields • Premium, belt-driven electric variable-effort steering gear from ZF Steering Systems • Brembo front brakes • Eighteen-inch aluminum wheels • Available all-wheel drive. A driver-adjustable FE3 sport suspension is available and includes Magnetic Ride Control, a mechanical limited-slip differential, high-capacity engine cooling system and 18-inch summer-performance tires. Magnetic Ride Control is a real-time damping system that delivers more precise body motion control. It "reads" the road and can change damping every millisecond. Design details The 2015 ATS Coupe rides on the same 109.3-inch (2,775 mm) wheelbase as the sedan, but features its own bodywork. The roof, doors, rear fenders and trunk lid are unique to the Coupe, along with a specific front fascia and front fenders that accommodate a wider track than the sedan. It is also the first production model to wear Cadillac's revised crest. The Coupe also has an aggressive stance, with wider front/rear tracks than the sedan, enhanced by short overhangs and sheet metal that wrap tautly around the tires. Standard 18-inch wheels are exclusive to the Coupe. Bold lighting elements are a Cadillac signature feature and the Cadillac ATS Coupe advances that tradition with available light-emitting diode, or LED, headlamps with Adaptive Forward Lighting. Base models feature projector-beam headlamps, while high-intensity-discharge headlamps and front vertical LED light signatures are included on all but the standard model. Illuminating outside door handles on Performance and Premium collections lend technologically advanced style and function to the distinctive Coupe. All models feature LED taillamps and rear-center stop lamp.
