CMA CGM Alexander Von Humboldt / ex-Largest Container Ship / Port of Hamburg 2013, 28th May

02:30
First Voyage from the CMA CGM "Alexander Von Humboldt" to Port of Hamburg. This HD-Video shows the CMA CGM Alexander Von Humboldt incoming to Port of Hamburg on 2013, May 28th. The CMA CGM "Alexander Von Humboldt" is the second one of a series of three 16.000 TEU vessels. The Container Vessel CMA CGM "Marco Polo" is the sister ship. At this time is it currently one of two of the largest Container Vessels in the world. The CMA CGM Alexander Von Humboldt is christened at 30th May 2013 in Hamburg. At 18 kn ship speed, the stopping distance is more than 1.6 sm! Without consideration of the propeller, the stopping distance and stop times are essentially a function of the ship's mass, ship's resistance and the initial speed, as well as the influence of the environmental conditions. The stop-path calculation of ships with great accuracy is not a simple procedure. In general, ships with variable pitch propellers have shorter stop values than ships with fixed propellers. Flag: UNITED KINGDOM [ UK ] Port of registry: LONDON IMO: 9454448 L.O.A. : 396 meter Beam : 53,6 meter Nominal TEU: 16.020 Remarks: The largest Container Ship is current the first ship of "Triple-E class", named MAERSK MC-KINNEY MOLLER (399 m), at July 15th, 2013 on service. IMO 9619907 The largest ship what ever built, was the Super Tanker Knock Nevis (458 m). She was scrapped in 2010.

Chittagong

13:03
Chittagong /tʃɪtəɡɒŋ/ (Bengali: চট্টগ্রাম Côṭṭogram) is the main port and second largest city of Bangladesh. It is situated in the southeastern division of the country, on the east coast of the Bay of Bengal and the estuary of the Karnaphuli River. Its estimated population as of 2011 was over 6.5 million. Chittagong has a deep-water natural harbour. It is a major centre of commerce, industry and shipping in South Asia. It is also one of the fastest growing metropolises in the world. For centuries, the ancient natural harbour served as a gateway to Bengal and major trading centre on the Bay of Bengal. The port attracted traders from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe and China. Many historic travellers passed through the port, including the Arab explorer Ibn Battuta, the Venetian merchant Niccolò de' Conti and the Chinese admiral Zheng He.[9][10][11][12] It was known in the 16th-century Portuguese Empire as Porto Grande De Bengala.[13][14] The British East India Company gained control of the port in 1760 after defeating the last independent Nawab of Bengal. Under the British Raj in the late-19th century, the modern Chittagong harbour developed with the construction of the Assam Bengal Railway. It was an important base for Allied Forces during the Burma Campaign in World War II. After the Partition of British India in 1947, Chittagong became part of East Pakistan. In 1971, at the onset of the Bangladesh Liberation War, the declaration of Bangladesh's independence was proclaimed from Chittagong. Directed by Ashraful Alam Sweet

The Palm Island, Dubai UAE - Megastructure Development

49:47
An awe-inspiring engineering feat, Dubai Palm Islands is definitely the largest artificial islands on earth. These Islands are three man made islands in the form of massive palm trees connected to the beaches of Dubai. The first island is the Palm Jumeirah, Jebel Ali Palm second and the third is the Palm Deira which is the biggest of them all. This artificial archipelago located off the coastline of United Arab Emirates in Persian Gulf. Dubai islands project was commissioned by Sheikh Mohammed in an effort to maximize beachfront property. Dubai's palm tree-shaped resort island on land built from the sea will contribute 120 km of beaches. Aside from the construction of the ambitious expansion, there is also the problem of constructing a mini city, which consists of 4,500 high-end residential homes, miles of roads, luxurious hotels and many amenities that will require basic human resources including electricity, safe drinking water and many more. This enormous project will position Dubai as one of the top tourist destinations in the world. I will tell you why these islands have appeared and that they must satisfy. Dubai is an emirate that open sea about 50 km (an estimate) and the sites required for building projects are on the beach. To view course and especially to "park" in front of the yacht's property or even assembly. Well when the beach was not available, and demand persists, the beach had invented. And it appeared artificial islands. Hence so sophisticated forms of the islands: they had to provide a larger opening to the ocean. This new concept quickly caught on. 'Only a' product 'high-end, the latest wrinkle in the most creative developers metropolis. A new source of land, location of the trick of the planet Earth! The job went, the two islands were settled immediately, with mixed development, spectacular, exorbitant, and finally in Dubai's specific style ... In parallel to the World archipelago started building and other projects are still on the drawing board Nakheel, developer. But crisis compels us to winter a little ... Where is the dream of similar islands: In Lebanon, wants to build a cedar shaped islands, the symbol of this country. Russia wants to try an island / an archipelago in Black in Sochi at the 2014 Olympics, at least that is speaking through the past years. Also in Japan there are several large airports built on artificial islands. The Palm Islands are artificial peninsulas constructed of sand dredged from the bottom of the Persian Gulf by the Belgian company Jan De Nul and the Dutch company Van Oord. The sand is sprayed by the dredging ships, which are guided by DGPS, onto the required area in a process known as rain-bowing because of the arcs in the air when the sand is sprayed. The outer edge of each Palm's encircling crescent is a large rock breakwater. The breakwater of the Palm Jumeirah has over seven million tons of rock. The Palm Islands are an artificial archipelago (islands) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Major commercial and residential infrastructures will be constructed by Nakheel Properties, a property developer in The UAE. The Belgian and Dutch dredging and marine contractors, Jan De Nul and Van Oord, some of the world's specialists in land reclamation, were hired to complete construction. The islands are the Palm Jumeirah, the Palm Jebel Ali and the Palm Deira. Each settlement will be in the shape of a palm tree, topped with a crescent. The settlements will have a large number of residential, leisure and entertainment centers. The Palm Islands are located off the coast of The UAE in the Persian Gulf and will add 520 kilometers of beaches to the city of Dubai. The first two islands will comprise of approximately 100 million cubic meters of rock and sand. The Palm Deira will be composed of approximately one billion cubic meters of rock and sand. All materials will be quarried in The UAE. Among the three islands, there will be over 100 luxury hotels, exclusive residential beach side villas and apartments, marinas, water theme parks, restaurants, shopping malls, sports facilities and health spas. The creation of the Palm Jumeirah began in June 2001. Shortly after, the Palm Jebel Ali was announced and reclamation work began. The Palm Deira is planned to have a surface area of 46.35 square kilometers and was announced for development in October 2004. GC Privé ~ A world of luxury www.gcprive.com

Cochin harbour in Kerala

01:22
Cochin Port is a major port on the Arabian Sea -- Indian Ocean sea-route and is one of the largest ports in India. The port lies on two islands in the Lake of Kochi: Willingdon Island and Vallarpadam, towards the Fort Kochi river mouth opening onto the Arabian Sea. The International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT), part of the Cochin Port, is the largest container transshipment facility in India. The port is governed by the Cochin Port Trust (CPT), a government of India establishment. The modern port was established in 1926 and has completed 86 years of active service. The Kochi Port is one of a line of maritime-related facilities based in the port-city of Kochi. The others are the Cochin Shipyard, the largest shipbuilding as well as maintenance facility in India; the SPM (single point mooring) facility of the Kochi Refineries, an offshore crude carrier mooring facility; and the Kochi Marina. A draft of 38 ft is maintained in the Ernakulam channel along with berthing facilities, which enables the port to bring in larger vessels. In the Mattancherry channel a draft of 30 ft is maintained. The port provides round-the-clock pilotage to ships subject to certain restrictions on the size and draft. There is an efficient network of railways, roads, waterways and airways, connecting the Cochin Port with the hinterland centers spread over the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Facilities for supply of water and bunkering to vessels are available. Cochin Port Trust is an autonomous body under the government of India and is managed by Board of Trustees constituted by the government. The board is headed by the chairman who acts as the chief executive officer. The government may from time to time nominate the trustees in the Board representing various interests. The entrance to the Port of Cochin is through the Cochin Gut between the peninsular headland Vypeen and Fort Cochin. The port limits extend up to the entire backwaters and the connecting creeks and channels. The approach channel to the Cochin Gut is about 1000 metre long with a designed width of 200 meters and maintained dredged depth of 13.8 meters (now dredging for 18 meters for ICTT). From the gut, the channel divides into Mattancherry and Ernakulam channels, leading west and east of Willingdon Island respectively. Berthing facilities for ships have been provided in the form of wharves, berths, jetties and stream moorings alongside these channels. source - Wikipedia This footage is part of the professionally-shot broadcast stock footage archive of Wilderness Films India Ltd., the largest collection of HD imagery from South Asia. Baby island in the Bay of Bengal: Andaman & Nicobar islands

01:14
Eagle's eye view of an isolated uninhabited emerald-like island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands archipelago. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands were shrouded in mystery for centuries because of their inaccessibility. These are the paragon of beauty and present a landscape full with scenic and picturesque extravaganza. These islands shimmer like emeralds in the Bay of Bengal. The dense forest which cover these islands and the innumerable exotic flowers and birds create a highly poetic and romantic atmosphere. "Here the white beaches on the edge of a meandering coastline have palm trees that sway to the rhythm of the Sea. The beat of tribal drums haunt the stillness and technicolour fish steer their way through crystal clear water." This addition of strangeness to beauty which is responsible for creating the infinite romantic impact may be described in the following famous lines of Keats. The Andaman Archipelago is an oceanic continuation of the Burmese Arakan Yoma range in the North and of the Indonesian Archipelago in the South. It has 325 islands which cover an area of 6,408 km2 (2,474 sq mi), with the Andaman Sea to the east between the islands and the coast of Burma. North Andaman Island is 285 kilometres (177 mi) south of Burma, although a few smaller Burmese islands are closer, including the three Coco Islands. The climate is typical of tropical islands of similar latitude. It is always warm, but with sea-breezes. Rainfall is irregular, but usually dry during the north-east, and very wet during the south-west, monsoons.
