It's a Consumer-Driven World - What It Means for Your Business

02:17
Why do you need a consumer-driven supply chain? Today's consumers want the right price, the best quality, and they want it now! What does that mean for your business? Your business success - or failure - eventually depends on whether your end-consumers are satisfied. All businesses exist to eventually serve an end-consumer. Shouldn't your company be doing all of the right things to ensure success -- and the consumer's satisfaction? But few businesses are actually driven by what consumers actually want... ► Subscribe to our channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq1YT1kWKED0wsVdluDi3JA?sub_confirmation=1 Follow us online here: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/15575/ Website: http://www.onenetwork.com/ Blog: http://supplychainbeyond.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OneNetworkEnterprises/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/onenetwork

Why Master Data Management Matters to Your Customers, Suppliers and Bottom Line

05:41
To learn more you can download the whitepaper at - http://go.onenetwork.com/master-data-management-wp In this short video Chris Bennett, Head of New Business at One Network, talks about the how Master Data Management in the Cloud can improve your company’s financial health. First, what is master data management? MDM is a combination of technologies and information governance practices designed to confirm the integrity and accuracy of data across the supply network What do traditional MDM strategies entail and how effective have they been? Traditionally, ERP technologies and vendors have formulated most of the existing MDM strategies. Their typical approach is to maintain master data across an enterprises various and disconnected transactional systems. Yet this approach hasn’t worked very well. The fact is today’s business executives don’t know which data records to trust and this makes it difficult to answer the fundamental business and financial questions which would allow them to manage their risk with data and information rather than physical assets and excess expense. Just how much of an impact does MDM have on a company’s finances and overall business? It’s very important. The simple fact is that most executives are completely oblivious to the data issues that are eroding the value of their organizations, which is in total contrast to their being up-to-date on most financial issues. Both are critical corporate assets with utmost visibility to both customers and shareholders, so why the gap? Bad data management leads to a steady erosion of an organization’s credibility among customers and suppliers, as well as its inability to leverage business intelligence investments and make sound decisions based on accurate information is a primary causal factor in market share loss. It’s more than just a technical issue for the IT team. What is the key underlying principle when formulating a MDM strategy that drives financial value for the business? A MDM strategy enabled with today’s cloud-based network platforms begins with the basic premise that healthy financials are driven and sustained by a healthy relationship with our customers. From a business performance perspective, fragmented and inconsistent data negatively affects cross-sell/up-sell, delays time to market, creates supply chain inefficiencies and weakens a corporation’s overall market penetration. When customer data has duplicates, is incomplete, or just generally inaccurate, companies will experience problems in revenue recognition, risk management, marketing and customer loyalty. How can cloud technology help? By bringing visibility and reliability to enterprise data, new MDM programs that are based on the latest cloud network platforms can improve business decision-making and drive improvements to both operating and financial metrics. MDM has been designed specifically to address the issues of visibility and reliability. More than just a technology platform, cloud-based network MDM provide all trading partners with a “Single Version of the Truth” to better answer important business questions. This enables internal teams and groups of trading partners to optimize their decision-making in unison. For example, from a customer management perspective, many companies “maintain” mountains of customer data, but because the data is typically subjected to long lead times, lacks the right context due to poor process, or is inconsistent, they cannot apply the data effectively. As a result, companies miss opportunities to expand promotions or offer discounts and other incentives aimed at growing revenue. MDM can standardize and unify customer data across disparate systems, eliminating both latency and variation. Is it true that MDM has been shown to improve earnings per share? Absolutely. Earnings per share (EPS) is directly related to understanding customer level profitability. With the new MDM cloud platform that we’re talking about, business units are able to identify their highest and lowest profit customers by analyzing the amount of revenue each customer or customer segment generates, coupled with the cost of serving those customers or segments. Bundled with that segmentation analysis is a longitudinal analysis which allows us to understand the lifetime value of a customer. Knowing a customers’ total value allows companies to assign and deploy resources more efficiently. Furthermore, real time consumer purchasing patterns and related causal variable analysis not only has the potential to significantly improve sales forecast accuracy, but also provides the ability to maximize consumer sell-through based on available supply. MDM enhanced sales and inventory planning lowers costs, increases revenues, and improve EPS.

Supply Chain Control Towers and the Real Time Value Network

A recent Gartner survey found that 85 percent of respondents felt that supply chain complexity is a significant and growing challenge for their operations. Where is this complexity coming from? The answer lies in today's globalized, outsourced supply chains. Globalization and outsourcing mean that no single company today owns more than a small slice of the fulfilment process, which in general has allowed companies to reduce costs. The problem is that the supply chain management systems were not designed to see and manage anything beyond the four walls of a single enterprise, and the result is increasing amounts of risk in their extended supply chain. Are control towers effective? Well, given today's environment of complexity and risk, it is no wonder that the control tower has been so appealing. Yet when you begin to inspect the underlying technology these systems rely on, it's clear that they could never live up to the hype. They have several key flaws... What are some of the most common flaws of supply chain control towers? First, there's "end-to-end" visibility, the primary benefit they are supposed to provide. The truth is that control towers offer a very limited form of visibility, emphasizing visibility into one part of the chain at the expense of another. At best, this means visibility across some of their internal departments and a immediate trading partners. This is because control towers create visibility by crudely stitching together multiple applications together with one-off connections between trading partners that aren't reusable, a time- and resource-intensive process. Ok, so limited visibility and non-reusable trading partner connections...what else? Control towers also require a lot of manual processes and large teams of people to operate—meaning that at best the response time between detecting a discrepancy and taking corrective action will be as long as a full week, and more likely several weeks or a month. This is because it does nothing to change the fact that your enterprise is still using separate systems for planning and execution. So even when a control tower provides an alert about an issue somewhere else in the chain, a human planner is still needed to evaluate the alert, translate its effect on the strategic, operating and execution plans, and determine the optimal response. How is One Network different from control tower solutions? One Network offers a fundamentally unique architecture that allows it to provide everything that a typical control tower system is supposed to and so much more...First, instead of the limited visibility of a control towers, One Network uses the cloud to provide true end-to-end visibility that includes all of your demand, supply, and logistics trading partners. It was designed from the outset to accommodate every member of your supply chain. Furthermore, it utilizes reusable company connections to ensure that companies need only connect once—the result being continuous progress and projects that actually gain momentum over time. Second, going beyond the passive visibility offered by control towers, One Network integrates planning and execution capabilities into the same system, allowing the system to make intelligent decisions and modify plans automatically without real time without huge teams of human planners to needed to monitor the system.

The Demand Sensing Revolution: Creating a Superior Short-Term Demand Signal

03:15
In this video Chris Bennett of One Network Enterprise talks about Demand Sensing, the next generation of Demand Management. To learn more about Demand Sensing please download our Whitepaper - Demand Sensing: Much more than a Demand Management Evolution: http://go.onenetwork.com/demand-sensing-in-supply-chain Watch the webinar replay, The Demand Sensing Revolution: http://go.onenetwork.com/demand-sensing-webinar-lp You can reach contact us at [email protected] / [email protected] First, what is demand sensing? Demand sensing is a next-generation demand management method that greatly improves current levels of forecasting by analyzing daily consumer demand information, thereby creating a much more accurate forecast of near-term demand. Why is demand sensing such a hot topic? Because companies realize that improving demand forecast accuracy can drive higher levels of customer service through better shelf-inventory availability while simultaneously decreasing overall inventory costs and increasing profits. In other words, demand sensing enables companies to gain a much leaner and more efficient supply chain. Just how much of an impact does Master Data Management have on a company’s overall business? It can have a huge impact. The jump in forecast accuracy that demand sensing brings can help companies manage the effects of market volatility and gain the related benefits of a demand-driven network, including more efficient operations, increased service levels, and a range of financial benefits including higher revenues, improved profit margins, decreased inventory levels, better order performance, and a shorter cash-to-cash cycle time. Some research indicates a 6% forecast improvement could improve the perfect order by 10% and deliver a 10-15% reduction in unnecessary inventory! From an infrastructure perspective, what does demand-sensing require? There are really two sides to the equation: First, Demand sensing platforms must scale to process the high volumes of data associated with hundreds of thousands of item and location combinations every day. The sheer volume and short processing windows require a great deal of process automation and advanced mathematics. Second, is somehow taking advantage of the increased demand accuracy via a seamless environment between planning and execution, as well as the ability to replenish the high frequency demand signals with optimized execution orders. Traditional supply chain management solutions have struggled on both counts. Where does the cloud fit in? Only the cloud can enable the kind of massively scalable real-time processing platform that provides both a single version of the truth from a data integrity perspective as well as a seamless functional environment between planning and execution from a modularity perspective. In other words, it’s absolutely necessary. More supply chain management solutions at http://www.onenetwork.com

Benefits of Automated Dock Door Scheduling

05:24
Automating your dock door scheduling delivers impressive benefits, but did you know there are other "hidden" benefits too? In this short interview Chris Bennett discusses a few of the obvious and the not so obvious benefits of dock door scheduling. To learn more about this solution following the following link to download our brochure. http://go.onenetwork.com/dock-door-scheduling-solution Alternatively contact Chris directly on [email protected] What is Dock-Door Scheduling? Dock-Door scheduling is one of the key services provided by One Network as part of the Intelligent Logistics solutions suite. It automates the scheduling process, and streamlines other key processes related to pickup, delivery, and receiving. The service also integrates with buying and distribution workflows across your supply network, giving you advance visibility of future capacity challenges. How does it Work? Dock-Door Scheduling uses a proprietary scheduling engine that considers your business rules and exceptions before offering partners a choice of appropriate time slots. You and all your trading partners can then easily choose appointment times with an internet browser or smart phone. The service also provides real time visibility into your current and future dock needs. For example, users can see upcoming appointments whilst flagging any potential production or customer service issues, meaning you can proactively manage problems before they become crises. What are the key aspects of the solution? The key aspects are Automatic shipment prioritisation, This enables shipping and receiving departments to understand the criticality of shipments based on the demand for the related products; meaning that during peak capacity times the most critical shipments will automatically receive appointments first, while lower priority shipments will be scheduled for days or times when capacity is not constrained. The second is that it enables you to model your assets and include best practices across your entire network. This will not only help you model business rules for shipping and receiving products at your own organization’s assets for example distribution centres, buildings, dock doors, but those of your entire network of trading partners as well. Collaborating with partners in this way ensures they will find it easy to embrace online appointment scheduling and follow your warehouses’ rules for arranging receiving and shipping. The upside is that your carriers, suppliers, and client partners will efficiently schedule your dock doors at their convenience, freeing up your staff for more important tasks which saves time, energy, and money. What else? Dock-door scheduling also includes scorecarding and compliance features. Because the system captures critical times and variance, it provides the critical components for a “charge back” mechanism for noncompliance, the service also records data such as origin, carrier, and other details that can be used to enable prepaid, collect, or hybrid programs. What makes One Network dock-door scheduling so different to other tools? I would have to say its flexibility and scalability. It can be used to schedule any load to be delivered to any specific point at an appointed time, because One Network freely makes available developer tools via its Developer Network, you’ll have the ability to customize the existing solution for business problems that are truly novel. The other big difference is the ability of the service to leverage data and workflows from across your supply network. To give just one example, although it is common for brand owners or vendors to have multiple sources for the same product, this information is usually lost when product is shipped to their customers downstream. Yet there is a great deal of value in understanding where this product originated. Suppose that the material is being shipped pre-paid. Capturing the “ship from” address can help you calibrate the freight allowance, or even convert these shipments to collect—saving money. Or consider the event of a quality problem. For example: a grocery retailer that buys spinach from a supplier that sources from multiple farms can quickly identify the specific source of contamination in the event of a recall by tying the shipment and product inventory to a lot number, or a serial number, capturing this information for each shipment, will enabling you to take appropriate action if needed. What are the proven benefits? Aside from the increased visibility, there’s improved efficiency, increased asset capacity utilization, decreased rates from carriers, compliance benchmarking metrics, access to historical data, controlled freight that provides scope for optimization

Benefits of Automated Dock Door Scheduling

Automating your dock door scheduling delivers impressive benefits, but did you know there are other "hidden" benefits too? Dock Door Scheduling is one of the solutions from One Network that enables collaboration in your supply chain network. By using dock door scheduling, you can allow your carriers and suppliers and other trading partners to take on the task of booking deliveries into or out of your DC's, freeing up your bookings teams to manage the rules and configuration for that scheduling. By allowing your teams to focus on the rules and configuration, you can get better management of your DC; for example, how you manage the capacity, how you manage the throughput, how you manage the rules which enable efficiency within the warehouse. What Other Value Added Capabilities Are There? In addition to standard dock door scheduling, we also have other capabilities which can provide increased value to you and to your partners. One example of this is the shipment prioritization, so the ability to consider the priority of an order or shipment when making a recommendation to the carrier or supplier on the day or time that they can book into, this could even be taken right back to the order itself. So by sending one that what we order, we determine what's the best day for that orders to be delivered based on the latest information about the demand and availability for that product. What Benefits Would I See? Some of the benefits that our customers have realized through our dock door scheduling tools are things like reduced system lead time. If you think about how long it would normally take for a supplier to receive an order and then go through that manual process of calling into bookings team, making the appointment, that could be 2-3 days. With One Network that is instantaneous so it reduces system lead times. It also improves compliance. Again, if you think about suppliers and carriers booking into the distribution center, if they are physically selecting that appointment time themselves, then they are more likely to turn up on time, so improving compliance. Another benefit is forward visibility into your inbound supply. By releasing orders and allowing carriers and suppliers to book their appointments in advance, it gives better visibility into what product is coming into the distribution center and when. We have seen customers using that to better plan the forward deliveries to the consumer. Is This Suitable for Me? If you are currently planning all your inbound deliveries in an Excel spreadsheet or you're struggling to manage capacity and throughput at your distribution centers, then a tool such as One Network's Dock Door scheduling would definitely be a benefit to you. Will I Maintain Control? Even though carriers and suppliers are booking their deliveries online, you can still maintain control over the distribution centers such as throughput and efficiency by configuring the rules that control what appointment times the carriers and suppliers are able to book into. How Do Suppliers Use the Solution? Carriers and suppliers would log into a web portal, just the typical dot com where they would access all the deliveries that they need to make into your distribution centers and then simply schedule them via an online calendar. How Is It Delivered and How Is the Cost Measured? One Network Solutions are software-as-a-service (SaaS). This means you pay for what you use as opposed to traditional software models where you pay for a license. With One Network, you pay typically monthly for what you use. Our monthly fees cover all the infrastructure need to support the solution, that's hardware and third party software as well as the One Network software maintenance, support and upgrades.

A Control Tower is a reaction to the complexity of the modern supply chain. Control towers really arose to provide visibility across trading partners, to connect disparate IT systems so that trading partners that are not in direct control of inventory, orders, shipments, etc., can still see what is going on and respond to problems. The first is Visibility, and exception-based monitoring, of course there are levels to this itself, which are dependent on the vendor. The Second is Alerting and Multi-Party collaboration, so this is real time issue Resolution. The Third level is decision support, so this is now getting into Intelligent Recommendations and the ability to execute transactions within the control tower, and the forth level is AI or Autonomous Decision Making. Who is a Control Tower for? A control tower solution is for any business trying to improve collaboration across trading partners, to move into a more advance form of supply chain management, one that integrates relevant technologies and solutions into a common environment and allows for real time visibility and control. It is for any company that has a complex supply chain that is expensive to manage, resource hungry and limited in its capabilities, resulting in restricted business development. It is for any business that serves a demanding end consumer, who’s behaviour can be volatile and often difficult to read. It’s for any business that is lacking in supply chain agility. New technologies such as The Internet of Things, big data, predictive analytics, 3D printing, Blockchain, AI, and multi-party business networks are starting to change the way businesses interact and serve the consumer. How is One Network different, what are the key principles to making a future proof control tower strategy? 1. Multi Party Master Data Management.Supply Chain performance is dependent on consistent definitions of customers, products, items, locations and other objects. One Network’s permission-based MDM framework allows all internal business units, facilities, and external suppliers / customers systems to operate on a single MDM model. Each party models their own world of objects, which is automatically translated and propagated to all relevant parties. 2. A patented network permissibly framework. Network participants must have access only to what is relevant to their business so that confidential information is not exposed to the wrong parties. The ONE Control Tower platform enables robust permission-setting capabilities for any control point and system functionality. 3. Cross-legacy process and transaction management. A Control Tower strategy should not require an IT overhaul. A successful platform can serve as a tunable system of control, allowing the controlling enterprise to oversee end to end processes across many ERP and legacy systems while assigning responsibility for intervening steps to different pre-existing systems. 4. Network ready intelligent agent technology. Supply chain disruptions occur around the clock. Luckily, One Network’s Neo never sleeps. He continuously monitors the supply chain, makes optimised decisions and generates transactions in real time, across multi-party and multi-tier networks. 5. Blockchain enabled. Blockchain is already transforming global supply chains, and One Network’s ONE Blockchain solution ensures companies are prepared for the future of trade. By marrying the benefits of a multi-party control tower platform with the advantages of Blockchain, companies can create greater trust, security and supply chain visibility.
