The story revolves about Ah Ma (grandma), who selflessly took great care of the wheelchair-enabled Ah Boy when he was younger, at a time the built environment was generally less conducive for persons with disabilities. Over the years, the built environment in Singapore became increasingly accessible and friendly for people with diverse needs, enabling Ah Boy to achieve success in his life and career. Members of the public who were at the Kaki Bukit station (DT28) during yesterday’s Downtown Line 3 Open House enjoyed a musical skit on the importance of staying safe on lifts and escalators. Young children also took home an activity book filled with stickers and games, including Do’s and Don’ts they should observe. The skit is part of a joint initiative by BCA and MND, presented by Hitachi Elevator Pte Ltd, and supported by the Singapore Kindness Movement and Singapore Lift and Escalator Contractors and Manufacturers Association (SLECMA).
